A Chance Encounter
Actually, I ordered something else, turns out, it was misrepresented on the website, wrong order.
However, it was already tested and opened before I realized an hour later.

Pshhhhh*
What is this? Seems familiar. Green? Nooo
Fresh? Nooo
Spicy? Not at all!

So the scent stayed on my skin for a while until I could identify it. But I’ve smelled this a hundred times. I know it.
And later, it clicked.
“Damp, beautifully scented laundry that you are just ironing!!!!! “

And that’s exactly how it smells. Rising ironing steam, but by no means unpleasant, rather well-groomed, fragrant, moist-warm, and eventually addictive. Especially,… hmmmm the word is..

“Home.”

I have always wanted to smell a scent like this. I was curious whether I would love it or have an aversion to it.
100% like. (I’m a clean freak, I love ironing)

My experience and sensory impression happened with one spray on the skin. And it was potent enough, lasted easily 6 hours.
Yes, yes, it’s completely different from the description here. But it really does smell like that and not otherwise.

Keep it.. or report the mistake to the company and return it? Hmmmmm

Timeless Pearl of Elegance

Unlike other renowned houses, the fragrances from Scherrer have led a somewhat niche existence in the past.
If you strolled through perfumeries about 30 years ago, you would find Dior, Chanel, YSL, Lancome, Kenzo, Guerlain, Lauder, Arden, Fendi, Chloé, Lagerfeld, Biagotti, etc. I believe some owners had no idea about Scherrer or only knew it vaguely. The big names had enough pull and corresponding advertising campaigns.

Scherrer seemingly never made much of a fuss, even though the first fragrance "Jean-Louis Scherrer" was launched in 1979. A radiant chypre in a hexagonal bottle, which supposedly contained 150 ingredients at the time. Nevertheless, Scherrer established itself in the fragrance market, and the aforementioned first scent made it into the selected 100 legendary perfumes.

With Scherrer II, which appeared on the scene in 1986, the house of Scherrer created a counterpart to other major orientals that dominated the fragrance market in the 80s and had sillage from Berlin to the Grand Canyon. However, Scherrer II, whether as EdT or EdP, distinguished itself by radiating more elegance and not mowing down entire streets. This was certainly also due to the fact that not everyone had it, as it was not as well-known.

But even this beautiful bird has had its wings clipped and now limps a bit when flying. I don't believe Jean-Louis (1935 - 2013) had any part in that or which perfumer can be blamed for it. Yes, yes, the IFRA regulations, blah, blah.

Once a packed top note, slightly mandarin and tuberose-rose, followed by spices in the heart, held by a wooden corset and sprinkled with myrrh cinnamon sticks on a base with sexy beavers by riverbanks, throwing earthy civet cats with earthy patchouli, we still have a great fragrance here, which has had many wrinkles ironed out.

What I admire about the house of Scherrer is that they do not flood the market every few weeks with a new perfume or flanker, like Guerlain with its eternal Aqua Allegoria series or niche houses that mutate into overpriced mass products because a new fragrance floods the market every five minutes.

Since 1979, Scherrer has launched only 25 perfumes. All remarkable and unique! Scherrer II is definitely recommended and perhaps today, precisely because it is gentler, yet still elegant, warm, spicy, and incomparable.

Scherrer II, the oriental-spicy sister of Scherrer I. Strong. Warm. Sparkling. Not for the shy. A modern Youth Dew.

The harmless, fresh, and floral-green first impression is deceiving: quickly, a cat with dry, sparkling fur emerges. (Vintage Mini)
