Antique Store on a Rainy Day
I'm sure this scent hits for its target audience but that was not me. I can recognize the mastery and layering but it's not for me unfortunately! This perfume opens with an absolute blast of peat. Not one-dimensional, acrid peat but a smoky, furniture-varnish scent where the tea and woody notes almost overwhelm but give way to refreshing citrus right before becoming overwhelming. I don't get meat like some other comments but the smoke and wood are very present. I honestly don't know if I'd call it pleasant. After ~2hrs the peat dies down to a pleasant smoky hint with a sweet, warm osmanthus and wood drydown. It's the back of a curio cabinet or an old furniture workshop- it's dark and difficult and nuanced. I can't even suggest an occasion to wear this because I wouldn't, but this is a collector's scent for those who enjoy deep, smoky scents.
