Askr | Spring Awakening
On a morning when nature seemed to be slowly awakening from its winter slumber, spring tentatively found its way through the damp, resinous forest, the peppery scent of earth and moisture lingering in the air. A gentle smoke meandered between the trees, while somewhere nearby a fire burned, its flames hidden from view. You could smell the warming ash in the air, even touch it.
Cut elm trunks lay scattered along the forest path, just like the freshly sharpened pencils on my desk from my childhood days. Oh, what a carefree time!
I strolled through the forest, my thoughts lost in the beauty of nature around me. Suddenly, my face was tickled by a salty sea breeze and I tasted the salt on my lips as I heard the distant sound of the waves breaking against the shore and spraying their spray into the air. Was I in a coastal forest?
The first delicate signs of life were noticeable. The buds began to burst open, and although I couldn't see them, their flowery scent filled the air around me.
The sound of the sea suddenly stopped and a silence fell over the forest.
