The old, worn pair of leather shoes
Uncommented scents, number... oh no, that wasn't me at all. ;)
Joking aside: If you've always wondered how someone smells like someone who, drunk as a pig, drools rum in threads onto his musty old leather jacket, which at some point was rubbed with beeswax to freshen it up, you've now reached your destination. Hard Leather from LM. Congratulations. If you like to read on, here you go:
Basically I am open-minded about leather scents, one or the other knows that. So the extensive testing of Hard Leather was only a matter of time and to be honest; it was okay that I didn't have it under my nose for a long time. Its prelude reminds me of civet because of the animalism that comes out of the bottle but also quickly dies away. The said civet is a bit musty and once you get deeper into it, the scent threads unravel and the civet was never there.
Leather up front? Check. Old, greasy and brittle leather, which has experienced a lot, we want to be exact. For a long time it hasn't been cared for and now the rum was also running on it. Annoying, because now the old musty note of the leather is more visible. That can be unpleasant in the bar of course. Depending on who you're with.
Hard Leather shows us very precisely what definitely does not help to enhance the fragrance at that point. Honey. Has a little bit of beeswax here for leather care. Leather should be cared for naturally, it should be supple and not brittle. Everybody who owned or owns leather coats or jackets knows the problem that leather loses its quality and scent. With the first leather jacket you don't think about care, I know. One or the other tries to save what can be saved, uses beeswax to free the leather from dryness. Unfortunately this moisture sometimes comes too late or has to be applied very often. That's what this perfume smells like.
It reminds me mercilessly of a pair of leather boots which I wore many years ago, it was rather rough leather, coarse. Or of my black leather jacket as an apprentice. Especially the shoes needed a lot of care. At that time I was inexperienced and unadvised in this respect and so I cared for the shoes more badly than right. The result was worn out, brittle and thus damaged leather shoes darkened by beeswax, but it was too late! Freshly after application it smelled like only leather mixed with beeswax can do. And after all the other things the leather shoes had got to know. A melange of dirt. Unfortunately for Hard Leather the perfume remains slightly musty and smells the same.
Here I suspect the incense, which does not add a fine nuance to the fragrance, but still fires the already rather sufficient work and catapults it onto this dirty leather level in a dirty and not wicked sense. I don't want to go into all the notes, because LM should be able to deliver much better scents. The result here is not catastrophically bad but not good either. It is only out of sympathy for leather that I forgive this high score.
In this sense, I would like to call LM: It doesn't always have to be leather.
