Ambre Bohème LM Parfums 2019

Ambre Bohème is a really beautiful sweet scent that invites comfort. Admittedly, I have smelled this type of fragrance several times before. Unfortunately, I can't recall the specific scents right now.
That's sometimes the problem when you've smelled too much.
It eventually becomes difficult to remember everything.

The fragrance starts off sweet and pleasantly spicy. In the top notes, I can already smell the tonka bean as well as the sandalwood. These two accords are complemented by spicy facets. The spicy notes in the fragrance fit perfectly with the sweet notes. It harmonizes!

Over time, the spiciness gradually recedes, and it becomes "warmer" and noticeably creamier for me. The sandalwood beautifully spreads its creamy nature, the tonka bean becomes more intense, a fine vanilla note emerges, along with slightly resinous undertones.

The longevity on my skin is about eight hours.
The sillage is totally solid and really satisfying.
Moreover, Ambre Bohème is wonderfully unisex!

They say that anyone who wanders alone through the streets on Christmas Eve risks encountering themselves. Or worse, someone who knows too much about you.

It was just before midnight. I was soaked to the bone, my last drink had been cheap, and the city seemed to have forgotten that it was once alive. Only a trumpet beckoned, somewhere between trash cans and memories.

A trumpet.
Wounded, smoky, beautiful.
It sounded as if it came straight out of an old blues film.

I followed the sound, through alleys I had never seen before.
Until I stood before a rusty door.
Above it, a faded neon sign flickered: "Saint Louis".
Not the city. The man.
And his spirit was palpable.

I stepped inside.
Inside: a jazz club, like something out of an old film.
Smoke, sound, shadows.
The room was warm from the smoke, filled with bass lines that made the air vibrate.
The sound had weight. The shadows moved like memories.
And then, sitting in the corner between cigarette embers and whiskey glasses, I met him.

The Smoking Santa!
Not red, no Ho-Ho-Ho, no hat, no smile.
A man out of a forgotten fairy tale. He sat there as if the room belonged to him. Black tuxedo, crumpled elegance. Black from head to toe except for his white beard.
His posture, calm like a conductor before the final movement.
His gaze, the look of an old predator, struck me like a headshot: old, knowing, tired.
As if he could see through me.

I was spellbound and couldn't move.
However, it was not his gaze, but the scent that captivated me. As if someone had known I would come.

Cypriol, spicy and dry, permeated the room like honest smoke.
Patchouli, velvety and warm, clung to the memory.
Nutmeg, soft and fine, hovering, almost like a spell.
And then a cloud of woods, warm and golden like an old soul, floated through the room.
Woody, dry, dark, warm - like a pact you regret even before you sign it.

I sat down next to him, without asking.
He said nothing, just a nod.
Then he raised his glass, blew out smoke, didn't look me in the eye, and whispered:

"You remember the story of Crossroads, right?"
I nodded. Of course.
"The boy, the guitar, the devil, the pact, the crossroads"

He laughed softly.
"But you are not at the crossroads, my friend," he said.
"You are in the middle of the club. For you, it's not blues...but a scent. And your instrument is...(he tapped my wrist)...your skin. (short pause)
Your pact...is olfactory!"

Then the scent rose further, unlike anything I had ever known.

Oud was there, yes. But not loud, not medicinal, not upfront. No drama.
It just whispered...like a distant bass line in the fog. Deep. Noble.
Tonka bean stepped forward, sweet and warm like trust.

And with it followed:

Vanilla, soft like evening light on warm skin.
Musk, sensual, without whispering.
Siam benzoin, golden, balsamic-resinous...like amber that clings to the soul.

I wanted to say something, but the moment was complete.
Like a chord that doesn’t need explaining.

Then the light flickered. The music fell silent. He was gone.
An empty chair. Just an echo.
I stood up and left the club.
The club had vanished.
No door. No "Saint-Louis". No jazz.
Just the night and Ambre Bohème on my skin and my coat.

I stood at a crossroads, but I sold nothing...I found myself.
Not through a sound, but through a scent that was quieter than any lie and truer than any promise.
Ambre Bohème was not a pact with the devil.
It was the revelation that some chords are not played, but carried.
Forever.

In search of that one fragrance that feels made for me, I stumbled upon this warm, soft, and rounded vanilla amber scent. I had ordered a sample set from Laurent Mazone. After the samples had disappeared into the drawer for a while, I randomly tested Ambre Bohème and Boom, I had to order it right away. I've been wearing it regularly for about a year now, and it feels fantastic. Cozy warm, tender, and unobtrusive. I usually spray it on in the evenings. LM Parfums are truly unique and have their own distinct language. Really amazing, a super DNA.
But is this the one for me? Well, it doesn't stop me from continuing to expand my collection, even though it is definitely one of my favorites.
