"The One" for Advanced Users
I would like to sincerely thank the noble sample giver.
To make it short: This fragrance does everything right, in my opinion, that went wrong for me with D&G's "The One" (the women's version). It's still not the type of scent that I completely adore, but I did quite like Ultimate Seduction.
A fruity opening, just like you know from The One, but with a citrusy splash on top. What is the fragrance pyramid hiding from us this time? It's too strong for bergamot, not bitter enough for grapefruit, and not soft enough for neroli. Lime smells different too... Unfortunately, I can't put my finger on it, but it fits well with the top note because it prevents it from being too sweet. It lacks the ice cream dripping child that drove me away from The One. Still, Ultimate Seduction is also quite a sweet tooth. If you don't like that, stay away!
The flowers in the heart note are heavy and sweet but well balanced. None of them really stands out, only the sweet orange is still present. Fortunately, it doesn't smell like Fanta.
The creamy base is initially quite similar to the D&G scent. It contains vanilla cream there, while here we have praline and amber. It might be the combination that reminds me a lot of tonka bean, which in turn smells similar to vanilla. (Ah, this is complicated!).
The nice thing here is that it is not overly sweet. NO overripe plum, no lavish vanilla cream; instead, Ultimate Seduction ends on a slightly bitter note thanks to the vetiver. You might think that doesn't fit, but here it rounds off the fragrance nicely and cheekily. A lovely surprise.
However, what I have to criticize are the longevity and sillage. After an hour, the scent becomes relatively close to the skin. Even though we are supposedly dealing with an extrait here. Especially given the price, that is somehow unsatisfactory.
Nonetheless, I would recommend Ultimate Seduction to all those who enjoy sweet-fruity-creamy gourmand fragrances but felt overwhelmed by The One. I know that reviews shouldn't really be based solely on comparisons with other scents, but here it really stands out to me. The two fragrances are very similar. But while The One is the dessert at McDonald's in a plastic cup, Ultimate Seduction is the dessert served to you in a fine restaurant.
