Tea, Spiced with Roses and Mandarins
And once again, L’Erbolario. A fragrance line that can be really fun to explore, as you can often make beautiful discoveries despite the somewhat lower prices (affordable, but not always truly cheap). Especially when you are looking for a scent to wear in your leisure time.
This is probably also the reason why most L’Erbolario fragrances suffer from a weak sillage. Just like this scent here, which is pleasant but also very faint.
The scent:
The fragrance starts with a lovely (green) tea note and slightly sweet mandarins. However, you need to smell it more distinctly shortly after application, as the sillage quickly becomes weak.
Then, a hint of rose fragrance comes forward, which becomes a little stronger over time. For a while, you can smell the tea, the mandarins, and the rose with about equal intensity.
About ten to fifteen minutes later, the cedar, which gives the fragrance its name, sets in. And that’s it. There is no further development of the scent, but that’s okay, as the fragrance smells simple yet beautiful. I did feel, however, that the scent later seems to have a slightly warmer character and even offers subtle sweet notes.
The sillage and longevity:
As mentioned earlier, the sillage is the biggest weak point of these fragrances. Therefore, you should apply the scent to your arms and not just on your neck, so that it at least rises well for yourself. For others, it will already be undetectable after a few minutes, at least if they are not close enough.
Thus, the longevity is also rather moderate and is hardly perceptible on the skin after about four hours.
The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and tapers upwards in a dome shape, resembling a small flask. On the large yellow label, the name and brand are displayed, along with images of lemons and flowers. The cap is tall, cylindrical, and gold-plated. It doesn’t look bad, but there are better bottles out there.
This tea scent from L’Erbolario is significantly better than Tè Verde, which I had tested recently. At least I liked this one a lot.
As mentioned, this scent is hardly suitable for being sniffed by others, but it can be used as a leisure fragrance. On nice, warmer days, to enjoy the scent for yourself. It is not suitable for more than that.
Admittedly, the green tea notes do not smell outstanding, but they are quite okay and natural.
For anyone always on the lookout for pleasant, light fragrances with tea notes (like me, who loves tea above all), I can recommend this scent.
It’s just unfortunate that there are a lot of similar fragrances, but that makes it fun to try out various scents :)
Another very nice green tea fragrance would be Asam No. 1, for example.
I’m going to brew myself a cup of tea now… and it will once again be a... *ding* black tea… what did you think it would be? Tsss… you should know me by now :D
