Powdery flowers
I would gladly take a bath in ORTENSIA, despite the fact, that my small sample almost took away my mood for testing. It seemed to be a lotion sample in a tiny, piteous pouch, that should never carry noble liquids.

The pyramid begins with innocent, powdery flowers, the whole impression is very young and bright. Later on a certain kind of waxy background erases the youth feeling, but the fragrance is still kind. Warm, elegant and gentle.

On the second day of testing a fade of powder still lasts for a few hours.

I think people who liked Kiss Me Tender or Montblanc perfumes, will also like ORTENSIA.

Birthday Package
Today I received the birthday package from my dear friend, who loves to surprise me with unusual scents that I "definitely don't have yet".

She has a knack for it - and a nose for it too.

Just the beautiful little box with the colorful hydrangea flowers brings a smile to my face.
Since I really like these flowers, and they are plentiful in my garden, I am surprised that I don't know Ortensia.

A gap in my knowledge, as it turns out when trying it.

The mysterious scent is hidden in a practical roll-on bottle, and the first "roll" actually brings to mind the beautiful, delicately scented hydrangea flowers accompanied by radiant jasmine and velvety rose.
The violet romantically mixes in, completed by shimmering heliotrope.

I sit in an old-fashioned garden pavilion on a wrought-iron chair and enjoy the sight of the floral splendor and their scents.

The floral circle is spiced with coriander and surrounded by sweet vanilla.

A garden impression, as if painted by Renoir.

For me, the scent is also, in the best sense, somewhat "old-fashioned" - just right for a nostalgic person like me.

I will dream a little more into the romantic scent - and silently thank my friend.

Not as innocent as it looks
The squeaky bottle and the decent average rating of the fragrance must have certainly tested the blind-buy reflex of some perfume enthusiasts; probably every lady who used to enjoy playing with Barbie has to bite her ankles hard to resist this delicious pink cake. Especially with the ridiculous prices from L'Erbolario...
Personally, I suffer less from the dollhouse syndrome than from having randomly received a sample in a plain plastic envelope that came with an order. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have tested the fragrance - just saying ;-) But I gladly admit: if I were into pink, I would really find this piece quite charming!

About the scent:
Hydrangeas don't really have a characteristic scent, as far as I can remember, but I'm open to being proven wrong. Ortensia is probably more committed to a fantasy note, and I think it's this floral, colorful mix in the first 20 minutes that suggests such a lavish pink floral splendor. Right from the start, Ortensia is a bit powdery, but just right not to be overwhelming; the bright heliotrope is easily detectable and confirms my scent perception in the category "Bright Floral Fragrance." The fragrance pyramid also lists coriander and mugwort, but I don't notice any of that here, just this absolutely pleasant, soft, finely balanced bouquet, very feminine, non-citrusy, very well-groomed and lovable, also absolutely high-quality and not at all targeting the Barbie faction as one might still suspect from the bottle. Of course, there aren't many edges and corners, but for an everyday office scent, Ortensia is surely a good alternative to some more expensive (designer) perfumes.
After about two hours, however, one can still experience a little surprise, as Ortensia does not just drift off into a watery musk accord like so many comparable floral fragrances, but a genuine vanilla-patchouli combo actually emerges, which is quite surprising for such a little scent Lolita. Personally, I find the vanilla a tad too sweet-powdery, while others might find it just right. The (overlooked in the fragrance pyramid!) patchouli adds a bit of friction, which I really like, as there are still a few distant, undefined, and delicate flowers left that form the common thread throughout Ortensia. Well done overall! A cute little flower to nibble on.
Did I mention that I would like the bottle if I were into pink??

Shamelessly romantic in youth. Enchantingly serious in old age.

Rosy, but not cheesy - rather floral-powdery-romantic and not as girlish as the bottle might suggest!

Delicate floral scent with very weak sillage, incredibly reminiscent of fresh laundry on the line. Very chic, clean, pleasant. Has depth.

For me, this is the epitome of a pink scent! In my opinion, one of the most beautiful floral cream fragrances!

Cotton candy with a floral scent? Nice, but I can hardly notice it on me! Do hydrangeas even smell?

Beautiful spring scent! Powdery, spicy, floral, and "rounded." Only downside: the short longevity. Almost only close to the skin. Delicate & fine!
