The Divine Smell After A Revelry Night
This is a beautiful leather scent with a tinge of oud that is not too intense. It’s smokey, woody and musky, with gloomy tones of leather coming through. The leather is the crucial actor, and I would describe this as a subtle oud. It is not original or unique, as it smells like many other leather things I have, but I love it.
The presentation is gorgeous. A black velvet case, the bottle and the cap are heavy glass. Not linear, the transition goes through a green-citrus, bitter and smoky, and finally, leathery accords.
From the sprayer, it smells sweet with a light fruitiness along with suede. However, as soon as I spray it, I get fresh green and citrus notes. A burst of green bamboo-like followed by a smoke-soaked suede jacket stretched out over an expanse of dew-soaked violets. An excellent, damp suede. The green foliage tinge might come from the cardamom, and the initial leather accord is akin to that of saffron, not mentioned but noticeable. An Arabian market comes to mind when I taste that spiciness.
Then it grows on me and comes to the oud, not at too skanky, or screechy, or barnyard. Instead, it has a smoky, dark woody facet. It plays in the back as an adornment and does not have the focus; therefore, I would not classify this scent as an oudy. The oud hints last only half an hour, then fade away. What hits me in this stage is the smokiness, not only from the oud but even from resinous frankincense detectable. All those nuances blend with dewy and slightly powdery violet, just a little floral but primarily damp. The fragrance features other blossoms not mentioned but is palpable.
The leather builds the backbone of the base, kicks in the middle but explodes lately. It’s a prime quality leather with no harshness, petrol vibe, or roughness, just polish and smoothness. I catch a musty, musky, and smoky leather. The velvety leathery accord remains on my skin until the end of its life. I would have named it "Velvet Leather".
Velvet Oud is for leather fragrance lovers. The scent is ideal for casual and formal events, dinners, bars, and even work but is too elegant and intimate for clubbing. Except for summer, this is a good option for early fall, winter, and spring days and evenings. On my skin, it has a moderate sillage and below average longevity, half a day, and then I must reapply. Indeed, on my clothes, it stays stuck for several hours, nearly all day. Do I recommend this? Yes, if you are fond of leathery things and well acquainted with oud.
I base my opinion and review on a bottle I have owned since December 2022.

P.S. I adjusted the longevity as the perfume is perceptible on the clothes the next day. It's above average, a solid 8 for me.
