The Slightly More Pleasant Instant Crush
Instant Crush was my first fragrance from the house of Mancera.
Back then, it really wasn't my DNA at all, which is why I sold it right away.
In the meantime, I find DNA much more interesting, and while searching for a dupe, I ended up with Afkaar.
Because "Afkaar | Lattafa / لطافة" reminds me quite a bit of Instant Crush.
Unfortunately, I no longer own the original to compare them directly.
What I can remember is that the Mancera was slightly more floral and thus more feminine (although still unisex), and that the saffron in that fragrance reminded me more of a doctor's office than it does in the case of Lattafa.
Otherwise, Lattafa has really done a great job here, a truly very good dupe.
From the start, you get the full blast of sweet saffron as you know it from BR540 or Instant Crush.
Many compare this sweetness to cotton candy.
A bit synthetic in the first 1-2 minutes, but that passes quickly.
It does have a hint of a doctor's office, but luckily not as much as you would expect from the Mancera.
In the dry down, I perceive a sweet rose, not entirely realistic, yet present and very pleasant.
I also sense a fruity vibe.
Hard to explain, there are probably no fruity notes in Afkaar, but something reminds me of orange or mandarin; it could just be my imagination, but that's what I perceive.
Towards the end, the fragrance becomes a bit warmer and creamier.
Saffron, rose, and this inexplicably fruity background remain present until the end.
The performance is quite okay.
The longevity on my skin was about 8.5 hours.
After 9 hours, the fragrance was still there, but so weak that I could hardly perceive it myself.
The sillage is also decent.
Not a beast, but you can definitely notice it in the first hours, and you will be noticed too.
My conclusion: A great unisex fragrance that can be worn almost all year round and for almost any occasion.
For lovers of saffron like in BR540 and the like, this is a fragrance they should take a closer look at.
For me, it's even more pleasant than the original, and therefore I will get a bottle sooner or later.
Unfortunately, it's very hard to find.
I don't know if it has been discontinued or why you can't find it anywhere for months? No idea, but if it becomes available again, I can only recommend it.
