Incredible dupe for Initio's Paragon with a slightly more juicy plum

This is an *incredible* dupe for Initio's Paragon. In a side-by-side test with the OG, this scent's only noticeable difference at any point in the development is a slightly jucier plum opening and mid, which falls in line with the original once the drydown hits. It's incredibly close and, in my opinion, the jucier plum is a bit of an improvement over the original which makes the opening a little fruitier and brighter. 95% dupe and this DNA is so unique that you're unlikely to have anything else in your collection that smells like this.

The notes on Fragrantica are wrong for including oud. From the official Lattafa website, the notes are otherwise identical, but do not list oud.

The DNA is a very smoothly-blended combination of lavender, sage, palo santo, plum, and sandalwood. It has such a calming, almost meditative presence which is wonderfully unique and perfectly unisex. I can easily imagine this working on anyone, where it turns a little brighter and sweeter on my skin as a femme but could easily pull more masculine if the sandalwood, pepper, and palo santo were more emphasized.

The projection on this is a moderate 1m scent bubble for the first 5-6 hours, which then reduces to a smaller 1-2 foot scent bubble for 2-3 hours, and finally dries down to a scent which will easily last on your clothes until the next wash. The longevity is wonderful, so if you love the scent it lasts as a skin scent all day until your next shower.

Easy 10/10 for me and absolutely no regrets. If you want a smooth, juicy, creamy woodsy fragrance with a calming aura or already know you like the Paragon DNA, this is a must-have.

Perfect for what I was looking for

TLDR: Love this fragrance as ive been looking for a unique but versatile signature scent that's not a freshie or blue fragrance and this fit perfectly. If you wanna layer it go with something that has black tea (ex: LV imagination or Zara sunrise on the red sand dunes)

For a good while ive been on a search for the perfect affordable all rounder signature scent that is still unique. I was having trouble finding something that wasn't along the category of being either too mass appealing or just another blue fragrance (they're fine I'm just not that big of a fan). Any time that I found something I liked it either wouldn't work very well for most of the year or was just not my style.

Now to vintage radio, It opens with a blast of sage and bergamot that, just about the second best bergamot ive smelt in a fragrance behind LV Imagination, just very pleasant and not super sharp. I dont get the lavender but girls ive been around have noticed it off the top (and sometimes say it smells like baby powder lol) so its there in the opening, after about a minute or two you start getting that sweet plum. Maybe 15-30 minutes later the black pepper and palo santo. Closer to the dry down the plum becomes more creamy and the woods at the bottom become more pronounced, eventually the plum and woods balance out and you for the rest of the time you get a super versatile dry down.

The KHAMRAH of 2023?

Vintage Radio is a fragrance I never expected to love this much. When I first got it, I thought this was just another gourmand fragrance. The dry down didn't even help, as I found it to be "annoyingly milky", but little did I know that I was in for a treat as I kept wearing it...

The opening is all about the plum. It's more of a candied plum than a juicy fresh one. This started to remind me of a plum flavored lollipop I licked over 3 years ago. As that begins to settle a bit, you begin to detect the lavender in the background.

Palo Santo is a note I missed the first time I wore this, instead I got sandalwood. But after frequent wearing, I began noticing a different kind of woody facet I haven't experienced before. This woody nuance feels sweet, smokey and dry. I haven't smelt the original Salo panto before, but I know what sandalwood smells like and it's not what I get after that plum phase.

Another note that plays a role in this fragrance is the black pepper. It keeps the fragrance slightly spicy. I can get that lavender and black pepper smell moreso when I sniff the atomizer deeply. Lavender has a way to keep a fragrance luscious and soft, and here it does just that. Palo Santo is a note that fascinates me now. It's the soul of this fragrance, and it is what keeps one coming back to have a sniff. Damn, this gets so beautiful and addictive over time. It's PERFECTLY UNISEX.

But even if the opening appears feminine to you, or the fragrance appears too much on the first few sprays, give it a few minutes to charm you, if that doesn't work, give it days to seduce you...in one way, day or another, it must surely get you, and you'll be the one begging to stop sniffing.

Longevity is great. Solid 8hrs+, with a considerable amount of sillage and projection.

Also, the bottle isn't that bad. It's unique enough, tbh. What I just don't like is the idea of using a white bottle. It stains easily, and the cap can't carry the bottle—the cap don't click tighter to carry the weight of the bottle. But other than these, the bottle is pretty good.

The oil concentration on this appears heavy. I like and commend the efforts Lattafa is putting into their pride series. This, just like Masa, is just amazing quality for the price. And just like its 'sweet' predecessors like Khamrah and Nebras, this might be the next big thing from Lattafa.

Better than expected

In a completely blind test of Vintage Radio vs Initio Paragon, I and two other people (tested separately; all experienced noses) all chose Vintage Radio as, ultimately, the better smelling perfume. In a repeat test, I had the same result. I don't do clones typically, but I can't deny that this one is better than it's closest premium niche cousin, and thus it has joined my collection.

Love this fragrance on its own, as I’m not familiar with Initio Paragon. Value for money is hard to beat when looking at the quality of the scent and its great performance. That said, I don’t reach for this as much as I probably should - it leans just SLIGHTLY too feminine for my tastes, but I think it’s legitimately a unisex fragrance. Brilliant.
