Fresh greenery
A green, light, herbal scent for warm summer days. I smell grass and a whiff of citrus, can't detect any watermelons as mentioned in the pyramide.
This fragrance is simplistic and does not make great waves. "Vert d'eau" is perfect for Les Néréide-lovers who are not yet ready to commit themselves to anything too serious or strong (there are other fragrances in the range which have far more impact, for example "Imperial Opoponax", "Patchouli Antique" or "Oriental Lumpur".) This EAU is neither spicy nor earthy, it's refreshing and pleasant, but it lacks character and is a bit dull.

delicately floral
Vert opens with cyclamen. Initially lightly scattered, it becomes a bit more intense.
It smells like back then in the greenhouse, where my uncle cultivated these wonderful flowers.
Well, they didn't necessarily have to include the greenery in the perfume, but it doesn't really bother.
It is a delicate, unobtrusive floral scent, suitable for everyday use.
The watermelon gives it a slightly aquatic touch, the honey merely underlines it, making it not overly sweet, it smells completely natural.

No Long Green Joy
Vert d’Eau (in German probably "Wassergrün") initially opens with an indefinable freshness featuring a few aquatic notes. But just after a few minutes, the top note gets to the point with a grassy green character. The scent reminds one of crushed green leaves, freshly trimmed hedges, and just-mowed grass. It is nicely composed and feels relatively natural.

But Annick Goutal's Eau de Camille, which evokes very similar associations and smells alike, pleases me far, far more. The "green accord" there is much more determined, interesting, harmonious, and at the same time appears more natural. And it is also significantly more stable and long-lasting (yes, this is a Goutal fragrance that lasts and lasts and lasts!).

The green accord from Vert d’Eau, on the other hand, bids farewell for me after a pathetic ten to fifteen minutes. What follows is unfortunately not worth mentioning and could have come from a drugstore shelf: a banal floral-fresh scent with a bit of shower gel and fruit, which becomes increasingly sweet towards the base. While it doesn't smell bad at all, it has been done in the mainstream a thousand times before, and it is simply too boring for me. The progression of the scent from aquatic-green-fresh-floral-fruity-sweet does not strike me as interesting but rather as unharmonious. Aside from that, I wouldn't know when I would want to wear such an aquatic-green-sweet mixture. On hot days? Too sweet. In winter? Much too summery. In the office? Too banal and at the same time too intrusive. As an evening scent? At most for a garden party, but even then I can think of prettier candidates...

Les Néréides is actually a jewelry label. As for the perfume line from Les Néréides, it is not a terribly exclusive niche fragrance brand; the scents cost just under 50 euros for 100 ml in a simple uniform press glass bottle. Nevertheless, I expected more from Vert D’Eau, as I found the other Les Néréides fragrances I have tested so far (Oriental Lumpur, Patchouli Antique, Imperial Opoponax) much more convincing.

The lighter and fluffier version of Green Water (1993). A gentle spring-like delight.
