A Fuzzy Peach: Soft, Simple, Subtle
Keiko Mecheri PEAU DE PECHE is one of the most accurately named perfumes I've ever encountered. Yes, this is the scent of a ripe, unsliced peach. Even the texture is captured in this composition, as there is a warm fuzziness to PEAU DE PECHE. Wearing this creation immediately conjures up in my mind the image of a reddish-orange peach with shades of gray on its edges caused by the fuzz.

Although the peachiness is central, this is a far cry from some of the more popular peach perfumes, including Lancôme TRESOR, Lalique LALIQUE, and Aramis TUSCANY PER DONNA. In this Keiko Mecheri creation there is no syrup present whatsoever, with the result (happy to some...) that the cloying quality of many other peach creations is entirely absent.

I imagine that TRESOR is the best-selling peach perfume of all time, but for some it is too tattoo-like and sweet. For those people, looking for a true peach but with no sugar added, I highly recommend PEAU DE PECHE, a gorgeous and well-made perfume. That said, because fruit notes are so finicky (many of them do not work on my skin, and see the review by Awesomeness, below), it would be a good idea to try before you buy, even if you are a peach fanatic. Try first
Peau de Pêche is like a peach liquor. It's light & sweet but with a strange undercurrent of something that reminds me of cat pee. I just can't get past the impression and association.

I love peach & apricot accords in fragrance, but Peau de Pêche is not for me. Not at all.

a gentle vanishing act
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.

format: eau de parfum
source: 1mL scentsplit decant, direct
year: 2025
price: $165 for 100mL
current season: winter, early morning
priming method: linger (dimethicone) primer
hydration level: super
application: moderate
masked: no, then yes

wet: i took a risk on this as i generally dont care for sweet or fruity fragrances but the notes combo and promise of delicacy were difficult to resist, and our doctor leaves early today so shorter longevity (6.2/10) is fine. just applied it's a soft, gentle white peach that isnt exactly photorealistic (white nectarines are my favorite fruit) but doesnt read as truly "synthetic" or screechy.

dry: radiant soft white peach, not cloying in the least. this is really lovely and fills me with a sense of joy as i drive. throw is a bit less than arm's-length. color impression is #fff5f2.

30 min in: i generally lose track of a scent once im masked up at work -- maybe one or two whiffs of extremely gentle white peach, already fading rapidly in intensity.

1 hour in: functionally, this is gone. if i press my (unmasked) nose up to my wrist i get the faintest trace of musk and possibly a hint of orris, but more than an inch away and i get nothing. i drank 56 fl oz of water yesterday and 16 this morning AND used dimethicone primer, so there is NO reason this should not still be here.

2 hours in: completely gone. i dont have time to reapply, so im scentless for the rest of the shift.

7 hours in: reapplied once clinic ended, using glycerin cream this time. as im charting, i get the same progression of events -- by 45 minutes, im smelling more of the glycerin cream than the peach itself, and by 1.5 hours it's gone again. while i really like the scent itself and the pricing isnt too bad ($1.65/mL), the performance is so poor that i know i'll just end up frustrated with it -- off to destash it to someone on whose skin it will hopefully perform much better.

verdict: swap
gender impression: feminine
office-friendly: yes
crowd-pleaser: yes
full-size candidate: no

Peach Skin
Peau de Pêche - Peach Skin. What a beautiful name for a perfume, what a promise.

This perfume is something special. The scent is so likable, almost pleasing. But only almost, because it is so extraordinary. I have never smelled anything comparable.

At the center is - the name says it - the peach. However, we are not dealing with a fruity scent or even a gourmand. This peach is neither fruity nor sweet. Its sweetness has been taken away, leaving only the pure scent of peach. It does not smell like a peach tastes, but simply and unequivocally like peach. And that smells wonderful.

The other components like iris, sandalwood, and crystal musk support the peach scent very subtly but balanced. Through them, the scent becomes a perfume and they give it longevity, depth, and sillage. However, the scent always remains brilliantly bright.

Peau de Pêche is almost a skin scent; it smells like lightly sweet and powdery warm skin. It is almost subtle, yet the scent aura is very present. No "Oops, here I come," but still a "Wow, what smells so good here?"

My Powder Peach
My second favorite Mecheri, which I no longer want to live without.

I find the Mecheris incredibly elegant and mature.
The sillage usually stays within limits (excluding the "Loukhoum" trio!), but the longevity is still good. I perceive the scents as very "skinny," as they say here.

Even this one, despite its fruity main ingredient, cannot be classified as a gourmand.

At first, when I sprayed it, I thought, "phew, how alcoholic-synthetic," but that faded within seconds, and a pure peach scent emerged. I associate the note with the harder vineyard/flat peaches, not with ripe, soft, orange peaches.
After a few minutes, a powdery note joins in, paired with (crystal) musk. Here, you can detect the woody note consisting of sandalwood and musk.
However, I can smell the peach until the end, so a wonderful fresh-woody-fruity scent develops on my skin overall, very subtle.

Contrary to one of my predecessors, I absolutely cannot find any similarity with Petite Chérie by Annick Goutal. For me, PC is more of a pear scent and not a peach scent; moreover, it feels much younger to me, a bit squeaky (due to the absence of a wood & powder note) and dissipates faster.

I just love this. A sweet and airy spray that makes you feel like you are in a cloud of peach juice. No longevity, I don’t mind spraying it all day.

A dewy white peach that settles into powdery, sweet skin. There's a slight coldness to it that reminds me of a soft spring breeze.

The key is 2-3 sprays per area, ignore till it dries down; then it becomes a perfect peach scent, not too sweet, just perfect airy peach

Powdery peach with a quite pleasant "innocent" touch of clean skin. It's a pity that sillage and durability are so weak.

It smells Japanese. It doesn't get much more delicate than this. Soft peach, lightly powdered and gently creamy. A bit too subtle for me, but good.

Unfortunately, the peach can't be taken out of the plastic packaging and starts to smell a bit after a while.

Like peach skin. Not juicy + sweet like the fruit, but velvety, unsweet + rather dry. Plus iris powder + woody musk cream soap. Delicate.

Dreamily beautiful delicate peach scent, like Flower of Immortality, here more peach, less rose. Like a warm golden light.

Very soft fruity and subtle, authentic peach with a slightly powdery iris note. Musk and sandalwood add volume.
