Amyris Femme Maison Francis Kurkdjian 2019 Extrait de Parfum

Amyris Femme Extrait is the second fragrance from the house of Maison Francis Kurkdjian that I have tried. Though my expectations weren't high because of the scent profile of this fragrance, I had some expectations considering the status of this luxury house. The fact that Baccarat Rouge 540 was the first fragrance from MFK I had tried, my expectations were somewhat elevated for sure.

Amyris Femme Extrait opens with a sour yet light floral note. I get hints of iris and the sourness must be some kind of citrus. The composition is nice, yet boring, in my opinion. I do hope I'm not offending anyone, but I've never been a fan of florals and my expectations for a MFK fragrance are high.
The fragrance is quite ordinary, I cannot imagine many disliking it, which makes it even more uninteresting to me, but at the same time I image that it's one of its appeals. No toes will be stepped on with this one.

This fragrance reminds me a lot of how I remember Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne smelling like and even Mon Evidence by Yves Rocher. However, Mon Evidence is more delicious and unique for a fraction of the expense.

Something about Amyris Femme Extrait is quite aquatic and hints at a resemblance of an air refresher. On paper, the fragrance is actually more pleasant. It remains lighter and with hints of conference pear, sweet and fresh. On my skin, the fragrance becomes deeper and with a soapy undertone. This fragrance might be more suited for Spring. But alas, I won't be revisiting it, it just isn't for me.

Amyris Femme Extrait is, however, very beautifully presented in its glass bottle and light pink fluid, and the eau de parfum is even prettier!
I'm happy I received a sample of this fragrance with one of my orders, but florals, no matter how high end, will never have a chance with me, I guess.

This review is part of a blind test. The dear First has sent a package with 9 fragrances on a journey, of which I am now allowed to write a blind comment on three.

The vial with "Number 3" smells like lemon from the outside. I spray a bit on my wrist and notice pronounced citrus notes, possibly bergamot. But there is also a floral component competing with the freshness at the start.

Immediately, I think of a fragrance: "My Burberry," which I used to wear very often. However, this one was a bit creamier and slightly sweeter in my memory.
In line with "My Burberry," my mental fragrance journey also begins in England. I see myself strolling through a rose garden in a trench coat. It has rained recently, and it smells fresh and floral.
As my journey continues, I find myself in Italy by the sea. A gentle breeze caresses my hair and brings the fresh sea air to my face. There are no flowers here anymore, but I smell herbaceous notes like sage. The citrus freshness from the nearby lemon grove continues to accompany me.

Unfortunately, my fragrance journey doesn't last too long; after about 6 hours, the whole fun is already over. The sillage was quite decent, especially for a very fresh scent.

For me, it's an everyday/daytime fragrance for the warmer season & spring.

I have tested this fragrance for quite a long time because I was very, very unsure how to describe or evaluate it..

The scent is really beautiful, actually super beautiful but somehow also very classic, too classic for me and definitely too floral..

Strangely enough, the top notes do not come through at all for me, only the heart notes, which are immediately present.. Jasmine and lily take center stage right away, no sharp notes but very creamy and pleasant, perfectly harmonized notes.. Quite quickly, the fragrance becomes slightly woody due to the amyris, which makes this scent more interesting than most floral fragrances.. Lily and jasmine continue to be the main players, which makes this fragrance feel too mature and almost a bit old-fashioned for me..

I really like the scent a lot but it just doesn’t suit me.. Which woman do I envision when I smell this fragrance..: A secretary. She is between 40 and 50, beautiful and very classically dressed.. Amyris Femme is a great floral fragrance, super suitable for the office. Beautiful, not at all intrusive and definitely classic.. For me, the scent doesn’t match my personality but it is still simply beautiful and noble...

Longevity on my skin is about 4 hours, sillage weak to medium....
