Oud Velvet Mood Maison Francis Kurkdjian 2026

Reminds me in the opening of Oud Extrait de Parfum it has that same Oud - sweet and mellow. To be fair I haven’t seen anyone else say that and I have not had my nose on it for 12/14 months so I may misremember.

I have revised my score up to 9 after two full wears, I have enough left for at least one more maybe two if I use just three sprays.
The sillage is strong for the first sixty to ninety minutes. It really beams off you.

I have worn it out on a walk 9°c and in the office with the same results.

After 60/90 minutes it becomes a small bubble around you not more than a few inches.
Around six hours it is a skin scent. As I write I’m still getting little wafts, I sprayed around 7am it’s nearly 5pm so ten hours. It reminds me at this stage of something vaguely like Rehab to be clear it is nothing like that until the eight hour mark and your on skin chemistry may not get that result.
The opening is a powerful sweet manly scent. I don’t get the saffron, peach yes, jasmine some. Plus something else sweet which I can only assume is the Copaiba balsam (no idea what it smells of never heard of it - google says it’s sweet) and Oud.
The scent is clean and fruity.
It is different on skin. Over time the fruitiness slowly fades leaving a nice musky base.
Definitely one I will buy towards August September. It’s Harrods only in England and in 70ml size it is very expensive at £360.
I do really like it though. Do I love it? Hummm….. yeah I think so. I’ve nothing else like it either.

I tried this at Harrods over the Easter weekend. It was first released in 2013, if I remember correctly. It wasn't very good then, and hasn't really changed. The best in the Oud collection are Oud Satin Mood and Oud Cashmere Mood. This reminds of Xerjoff Gao, and I didn't like that either. Very masculine, certainly not unisex. £360 for 70 ml, is a rip off.

1001 Nights in a bottle. I usually prefer my oud fresh and clean, like in a gentlemen's club, but this fragrance has changed my mind. It is not a fleeting one-night stand, but an intense affair that I can't get enough of. Dark, velvety, and like the extrait version of Baccarat Rouge, simply 'the one'. A scent that lingers - in memory and on the skin.
