Creamy, sweet figs with a powdery jasmine and some warmth
I haven't tried many Marc Jacobs fragrances or Perfect flankers, so when I received this one as a free sample with purchase at Shopper's Drug Market, I didn't really have any expectations.

If you love creamy, sweet and almost sugary figs, this might be the one for you. I get very strong dessert-like, almost jammy figs with a hint of burnt, caramelized sugar. Jasmine is sweet and subtle, lending some dimension to the fragrance. It becomes more powdery sweet and less fruity as the fragrance moves on. The drydown is sweet and warm, comforting even.

Overall it's a very nice fragrance, but since I'm not a fig fan, I won't be going for a full bottle. I do question why it was released so close to summer as I'd wear this one during spring or colder weather to come. It's in fact: the colder weather flanker of the Perfect line.

Stripped-down demo version of a wintery Mark Jacobs perfume
Sweet, gooey and fruity, but in a very... non-commital way. Like, sure, I know that this is meant to be fig because they said so, but if I didn't have the notes to guide my vision, I wouldn't be able to guess it. Just standard Mark Jacobs synthetic fruitiness – this time on a soft amber backdrop, sleek and almost creamy. I can feel a bit of jasmine if I consciously smell around for it, but on my skin it doesn't stand out at all. At least not to a degree where I'd classify this as a "floral" perfume.

Projects about an arm's length away for the first ~1,5 hours. Is pretty strong in the wearer's immediate vicinity at first – on the verge of being obnoxious, imo. As time goes on, gets airier and creamier and settles closer to skin. Becomes a skin scent in another ~2 hours. The upper fig note fades out a fair bit, but never fully disappears – until the very end there is a twinge of synthetic fruitiness accompanying the composition.

Rather clingy. About ~5 hours in I noted that it reached the drydown stage, and expected it to completely fade away in the next few hours. But the soft melty skin scent just plateaued and remained on me, unchanging, for at least another ~6.

If you are already acquainted with Mark Jacobs and enjoy their vibe in general – you might be able to appreciate this one too. Maybe as an occasional treat for colder seasons. But if you are unfamiliar with the house, I wouldn't start that journey from here. It's pretty simple and straightforward, and in spite of its curious note composition – generic and boring, if I'm being honest. Like a first draft that could eventually lead to something interesting if the creators continue moving in this direction, but in its current state feels more like an early development demo version rather than a completed perfume.

She is fruity, she is grace
Please bear in mind: this perfume smells nothing like other Perfect flankers. This is it's own beast entirely, not related to anything Marc Jacobs I smelled before.

Perfect Absolute is juicy, syrupy almost sweet fruit, with the hint of jasmine and amber somewhere in the background. The scent is quite intense, sultry, albeit linear. What you smell for the first minute is what you get through the entirety of the lifespan of this scent.

Speaking of lifespan, it's quite decent, lasts for half of a day at least with some moderate sillage that fades as the time passes. To me this truly is a perfect everyday fragrance that is quite dense, but neither suffocating nor offensive. It's nothing groundbreaking or provocative, but it's a strong confident perfume in it's own right.

I do agree that it can be quite boring to perfume connoisseurs, but it's not an unpleasant scent and is a swell workhorse of a perfume you can reach for when you don't want to decide which scent to wear. It's definitely worth a sniff on a chance you see a tester at a department store. This isn't a legendary or era-defining perfume, so as soon as the novelty wears off I believe I'd see this particular bottle on a deep discount.

Shampoo vibes! And I Love It
You know how you try a new shampoo and the scent surprises you in a good way? This fragrance did this to me.

An amber bomb sans ambroxan, this perfume goes deep without feeling dark. If you like this and you want to go dark with Matiere Premiere staying power, but within a MJ fragrance price, try Fenty.

Otherwise, enjoy the fig as it flits in and out before wisping away to nothing.

Caramel jasmine
Caramel jasmine, sweet and comforting from the very beginning, creates an inviting and cozy impression. The composition is well‑rounded, moving smoothly from a noticeable and good initial projection to softer, subtly sweet accords. By the end of the day, it lingers gently on fabric, leaving a warm and pleasant trace.

Smooth, synthetic jasmine (which I enjoyed), mellow amber, non-green fig. Not similar to og Perfect in any way.

Very sweet, but right up my alley. Like eating a yummy fig dessert next to a bouquet of flowers. Smooth and comforting.

First thought: medicinal. Ah yes that's it—pink Pepto Bismol masquerading as a fragrance. How does this even go to market?

Nice fig opening, I just wish the jasmine didn’t smell like plain bubblegum during the drydown.

I wanted to love this, but I unfortunately don't get the creamy, sweet scent everyone else does. I get sharp, sour rhubarb.

Caramel jasmine. Sweet and comforting.

It could be a *perfect* fig fragrance, but the jasmine keeps it safe and generic.

VERY generic, like walking into the perfume section at Sephora. It's wearable and the bottle is really cute, so would make a nice gift.

Sweet, sugary figs paired with a floral and slightly powdery jasmine. Drydown is warm and comforting. The colder weather flanker.

Figs, red berries, vanilla sauce, and a lot of sugar. 90% of young ladies smell like this. Have fun.
