So, my little fragrance lovers! Welcome to a new comment from me :)
Today, it's about Ad Lumen by MiN New York. Translated, it should mean something like "to the Lumen" or "after Lumen," with Lumen standing for light intensity, and one could simply say it's the brightness of a light.
Fragrance names can sometimes be a thing of their own, where you never really know what a name is supposed to mean. Therefore, I can't tell you much more about this name, as I found nothing about the fragrance name. To me, it even sounds like a... here it comes... superhero (or supervillain), but what else would you expect from my thoughts? :D
Ad Lumen, the Bright Light! Don't laugh, there's also The Green Lantern! Better known as Green Lantern, who is a real superhero from DC and even one of the most powerful superheroes out there! Oh, you have no idea!
And you uncultured folks, of course, don't care about such things *sigh*
So I pour the fragrance on my arm and start sniffing, because you probably aren't listening anymore anyway, pah...
The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts off with a rather synthetic, sharp note that reminds me a bit of chemical cleaners.
Then, gradually, you can pick up a bit of citrus scents, specifically bergamot. Quickly, I then smell musk. The clean musk note is unmistakable and particularly well-recognized here, as not many fragrance notes are at play at once, and the citrus notes are quite weak anyway. You could compare the musk here a bit to the musk scent of "White Musk for Men" by The Body Shop.
In the background, it still smells a bit synthetic with a slightly biting touch, but it seems that this is gradually fading away.
After about five to ten minutes, thankfully, the horrendous, chemically-synthetic beginning that I find so dreadful finally fades completely, and the fragrance starts to smell really nice. The main fragrance note is the musk, which, as mentioned, smells bright and clean and gives off a slight, pleasant sweetness. The bergamot remains weak but can occasionally be detected, especially if you sniff the sprayed area extensively. Another light sweetness comes from the subtle jasmine, while I can hardly perceive any rose.
In the end, you still smell the musk the most, which still smells very, very clean and pure. A splash of bergamot is present in the background, along with a light, resinous-sweet note. A nice fragrance that starts off a bit "strangely."
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is moderate to slightly weak, so the fragrance is best smelled up close. The longevity is seven to eight hours, after which it becomes much weaker. Seven to eight hours is, however, a good longevity!
The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular with black-tinted glass, reminiscent of bottles from, for example, Narciso. On the front, there is a label that partially continues onto the side walls. It displays the brand and name, with the name always looking as if it has been crossed out. The white spray head sits on a trapezoidal neck, topped with a large wooden cap that shows the brand's logo on the top. A beautiful bottle that appears less conspicuous than it actually is.
Hmm... fitting to the name, the fragrance has indeed turned out to be "bright." I often perceive musk in various ways, as the sweetness of musk seems a bit "dark" to me in many fragrances, but here it is bright; it practically radiates and smells very clean, meaning that anyone who has something against cleanliness probably wouldn't appreciate this fragrance (but hopefully still takes a bath occasionally :D).
For those who like it, just don't let the beginning scare you off, as it can come across as quite chemical. This doesn't last long, and soon the fragrance begins to smell nicer. For me, the fragrance is an all-rounder that can be worn during the day in any season. In leisure or at work and so on. However, for going out, it isn't nice or spectacular enough and is still weak. Due to the sweetness of the fragrance, it is probably considered a women's fragrance by most, but I find it quite unisex. It's just a matter of taste, really. You can test it, but it's not a must; however, if you should sacrifice an arm for it, that wouldn't be so bad!
Well... should I dare to report here once again about superheroes far and wide? Appropriately about Green Lantern? No? Well, then you got lucky, as I don't know Green Lantern that well yet (but actually well enough to annoy you with it, but I won't, I think once a week I can be nice :D).
So then, have a nice evening and see you next time.
