Okay, I admit it might be a little too early to write a comment on a summer fragrance here, as it is really still cold outside. The last time I was briefly outdoors, I thought my ears would freeze and fall off within seconds… everything could easily freeze to ice out here… and that’s despite the sun rays being visible (um, while I’m typing this comment, sun rays are visible; the fact that I’m publishing it now in the evening is another matter… :D). Well, the weather is getting a bit better again…
But,… just a small spritz of this fragrance somehow makes you forget the cold weather outside. Thoughts immediately wander to warmer places. Either you imagine you are on vacation, or you remember beautiful vacation or summer days…
The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts off casually and lightly with beautiful citrus notes that smell a bit like mandarins to me, before they turn into their bigger brothers, the oranges :D
In the background, it has a slightly aquatic scent (not to be confused with marine, which would smell saltier to me, which is not the case here).
The jasmine makes the fragrance sweeter, even though it doesn’t smell very intense itself. The oranges (or let’s say more of an orange/mandarin mix) continue to smell sweet due to the jasmine, and thus smell somewhat similar to Mandarine Ambrée by Hermès, only that the sweetness here later comes more from the musk in the base.
The Sillage and Longevity:
Well,… what can I say. It’s rather disappointing. Sometimes I feel that the better a fragrance smells, the less it projects (at least in the case of a summer fragrance). It’s no different here. The fragrance is only noticeable at first, but then becomes very subtle.
The longevity is also only below average, with three to four hours being rather weak, as the fragrance is really only very faintly detectable after the second hour.
The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and clear. On the bottom side, the brand name is etched into the glass. I’m not so sure about the label, as it seems there is a version of the bottle without a label, where the fragrance name is printed on the bottle, and another with a label that features a nice drawing of oranges with the fragrance name on it. The cap has bands running along the bottom side and features an upright inscription with the brand name and logo on the top side. Not too shabby, although the version without a label looks a bit too simple.
Citrus fragrances are actually ideal in summer to refresh and simply smell casual and light. This fragrance also scores with its gentle warmth. It is citrusy and light and refreshing, yet due to the musk and jasmine, it radiates a certain pleasant summery warmth that makes it perfect for evenings on hot days while still feeling fresh.
Above all, I can easily imagine such a fragrance on vacation, after a tiring day at the sea, where you’ve battled waves and got annoyed with other vacationers who once again trampled the painstakingly and lovingly created sand structures (yes, even adults still play in the mud… um… sand…!!) with their feet… and when you then return to the guesthouse or hotel, shower, rest briefly, and then go out to eat and explore the area on a lovely evening where it’s pleasantly warm but not scorching hot anymore, this fragrance fits perfectly to make the evening even more beautiful.
* sigh *
And now I’m here… it’s cold and wet and everything seems so bleak and boring, it’s not even snowing, which at least would have been nice… *sigh again*
Well, I think this fragrance is definitely worth checking out; it has turned out really nice, even though its projection and longevity are unfortunately low.
…
It’s cold cold cold… I think I’ll make myself some tea without milk or coffee (but WITH milk!! :D) and watch the movie “The Day After Tomorrow” again, seeing how the Earth perishes in ice and people freeze their butts off :D
