Switch of modes

I really like the fragrances of Parfums de Nicolai, I think they are enough brave and skilled to compose something special for us.
EAU D'ÉTÉ is also something special but I could not say this on a positive way. After donning it is really nice, pleasant and beatifical, and it is definitaly that kind of juice which needs time for unfolding, changes a lot. At the first test it was better and better and cleaner as time gone, but at the second test I felt some incredible paperglue odor.
So I suggest to test it carefully and not only once before buying, especially to women, who have different chemistry as the moon is gliding on the sky...
Anyway, value-money ratio is really good for Parfums de Nicolai fragrances.

We're definitely not a match.

Patricia de Nicolai is a remarkable lady and a hell of a perfumer, which is why I’m devastated to report that this one turns into a disaster on my skin. To put it short, I have to deal with lemon-flavored cleaning products used in hospitals. It almost gives me anxiety. There is nothing more to say.

Sorry for posting this as a review, it seems it is too long for a statement. So I’ll add that it performs more than decently for an "Eau", not that I'm overly happy about that.

A shot in the arm at the doctor's office.

I ador fresh green perfumes for summer and in the opening, the perfume evokes everything that the label has led you to expect: a chic, light summer cologne perfect for a hot, scorching day. But after 5-10 minutes the cinnamon appears, "Next! Come in, please!" and the nurse rolls up your sleeve for the injection. A heavy medicinal smell which I would never want to feel on me, especially not in summer. And there it remains, this pathetic L'eau d'ete: with tears in your eyes, a lollipop in your mouth for consolation, and an antiseptic smell emanating from under the gauze bandage.

Ador parfumuri verzi si proaspete si la inceput mirosul evoca exact la ce te-ai astepta prin nume: o apa de vara cocheta si usoara pentru canicula. Dar, dupa 5-10 minute apare scortisoara, "Intra-ti, va rog!" si asistenta iti descopera bratul pentru injectie. Un miros medicinal si apasator pe care sincer nu vreau sa il simt niciodata pe pielea mea, cu atat mai putin pe caldura, in timpul verii. Si acolo ramane acest patetic L'eau d'ete: cu lacrimi in ochi, o acadea in gura, si miros de antiseptic care emana de sub bandajul unde ai fost proaspat intepat.

A Summer Day in Nicolaï's Garden

Summer dictates its own fragrance laws: We should smell aquatic or citrus-fresh, according to the will of the creators.
Or we could choose a fruit basket filled with ripe peaches, raspberries, and other juicy-sweet seasonal fruits to accompany us, or, let’s not forget, dance through a romantic evening surrounded by a colorful floral splendor, enveloped by patchouli, sandalwood, and warm musk vanilla.
If we add something woody-spicy, like cedar or cypress, to this idea, the summer day becomes perfect: Then the prelude to a promising fragrant night is already complete!
We just have to let ourselves drift and perhaps use a little imagination ...

The house of Patricia de Nicolaï always produces clear, straightforward fragrance compositions beyond this "mainstream."
For to simply follow the dictates for the masses, Jean-Paul Guerlain's niece has too much style, too much personality; both always flow into her compositions.

With her fragrance creation "Eau d’Été," Patricia de Nicolaï invites us to a southern summer day in a beautiful garden, full of charm and cheerfulness: Clear yet rich in scent, just as I like it on warmer days.

A refreshing, slightly tart spritz of lemon and grapefruit greets us cheerfully; this feeling of "fizzy fruits" is soon tempered by the ripe sweetness of orange, making the fruit and fragrance progression a bit less lively; it is no longer quite so exuberant and airy-light.
For a moment, it even reminds me of "Nimm2" candies. But fortunately, that is just the association of a moment.
The transition to the rich aroma of white jasmine flowers spiced with cinnamon works very well for me.
The numerous orange blossoms currently taking over my balcony carry within them the astonishing scent of slightly overripe jasmine flowers at their peak, leading my nose back there time and again; this is a "homely" fragrance impression.
The development of all the components is wonderful and also surprising: Almost exuberant freshness meets sensually white, softly touching jasmine-cinnamon clouds!
A feather-light dose of musk reminded me of the encroaching twilight of this fragrant summer day; it floats, despite its spicy-resinous garnish, as a fine cuddly effect over everything.
It is astonishing what fragrance progression unfolds in the form of this clear, seemingly light "little water" on my skin.

What thoughts and goals Madame Nicolaï followed in composing this "summer water," only she knows, but I can only once again tip my nonexistent hat in appreciation:
For me, "Eau d’Été" is as successful as a stay in a beautiful garden.
I follow these traces relaxed and gladly, enjoying an extraordinary summer day in interesting fragrant company: Here, I would like to be a butterfly!

Despite all routine, the perfume honorary legionnaire Patricia de Nicolaï once again shows us that each individual perfume composition remains an adventure.
And I do love fragrance adventures (and gardens) ...

Refreshment

I am standing on the Djemaa El Fna, the central square of Marrakech. The dry heat is overwhelming. In this sunlight, it becomes clear why one wears a headscarf here, if only for practical reasons. What could be better than drinking a freshly squeezed, ice-cold orange juice at one of the many juice stands? This bright, fresh orange, the cold, condensation-covered glass that refreshes just by being in hand, and that fresh scent! Every now and then, a waft of jasmine and a hint of spice drifts over from the neighboring stand, maybe there was even a splash of lime in the glass today...

Considering the high temperatures, I was looking for something refreshing and found it in Eau d'Été. This "orangey" scent inevitably brings my thoughts back to the place described above. I find it very refreshing, invigorating, and very natural (no toilet cleaner/cleaning product ;) )
The sillage is, in my opinion, fine for an Eau fraiche; it shouldn't overwhelm you in the heat.
I found the longevity to be not very strong; after a few hours, I could hardly perceive anything. However, my husband asked me several times why I had doused myself so much...(he himself wears perfume, but he doesn't like any on me...a "it's not too bad" is the best compliment). With the linear scent development, one can easily refresh according to taste.
You usually drink orange juice too quickly anyway. But the nice vendor is sure to refill at least once more...
