Notes:
Olibanum and Peru Balsam control the -harsh- tubereuse. Carnation and Tonka Bean rule over the omnipresent cinnamon. Mandarin, Jasmin and Sandal turn your face to the light!

a candid and clean fragrance with tuberose

Sacrebleu is a French exclamation that can denote surprise, indignation, consternation : used from the earliest times to replace what might have been an imprecation and thus punished ... in short, a kind of sweetening of a word.
And Sacrebleu is indeed a candid and clean fragrance : a sweet opening opens to a slightly carnal tuberose but which then takes on clean and soft, creamy and wonderfully floral undertones.
Almost as if it were pure and immaculate.
A fragrance suitable even for those who do not like this flower, elegant and discreet.
Truly beautiful.

Unintentional Nostalgia Moment™

Whenever a perfume presents a direct olfactory snapshot of something I have smelled before, I, like many, become unfathomably happy. Madame Nicolaï, you have reinvented the rootbeer Smencil, circa 2011. After that sentimental opening, however, she leans acidic, earthy. I will never be able to wear this in good faith because of the association, but the rootbeer Smencils were my favorite for a reason. This is a delicious, fizzy, comforting fragrance.

A blast of vanilla and carnation

When I tried this scent for the first time, it felt so familiar.

It instantly reminded me of Métalys a huge vanillic carnation scent. The similarity is striking when you reach Sacrebleu Intense drydown. Knowing Patricia De Nicolai heritage, it is not surprising. However I find Sacrebleu Intense more wearable as Metallica is such a "grand" scent that demands attention and cannot be worn anytime.

The opening of Sacrebleu Intense is like a tutty fruity gummy. A bit on the synthetic leaning side and it is my least favourite part. Once it fades you can that lovely ambery glow with some carnation.
I adore carnation in fragrance. Such a vintage note that it is rarely used in perfumery nowadays. So needless to say how happy I was when I discovered this scent this summer.

I have sore knees...

... and that's because I spent the whole day yesterday sliding around on my knees to worship this fragrance. It's also called idol worship.
If I were filthy rich, meaning I had to rearrange my money so it wouldn't go moldy, I would lure Mrs. de Nicolai to Germany to work for me.
The opening is heavenly and starts with a juicy mandarin fruit note, warm but not sweet. A hint of seductive exoticism. This is already very present, but Intense turns up more and more with each passing hour, revealing an orgiastic floral cinema. I fell right back to my knees and kissed Madame de Nicolai's picture! A dark red cinnamon note rounds it all off and adds depth.
The base lasts over 24 hours. You read that right! Balm, wood, a slight but not sticky tonka sweetness, and very pleasant incense (which I have now studied thanks to parfumo and also own in various versions) make this fragrance a masterpiece.
Sacrebleu (which I also love) and Sacrebleu Intense differ quite a bit. Sacrebleu is brighter, more radiant, and cheerful. The Intense is pure dark eroticism. Warm and sassy. Somehow it reminds me of Montaigne and Nocturnes, both by Caron. Mysterious and the perfect scent for such cold April days.... I'm sending it on a journey to a dear parfumista, otherwise I might weaken, sniff...
