Classic Lavender Cologne
This is a wonderful, classic cologne that smells fantastic on the skin or on your pillow for a sweet drift into nighttime. At $60 for a 100 ml bottle, a hefty bottle in a nice box no less, in 2025 that is a relative deal to begin with.

The top notes are a peely, lemony bergamot -- like grated zest. Over a true (purple) lavender, very herbal, slightly camphorous, not resembling the washed out socially acceptable lavender of detergents and body lotions, rather this is green and aromatic type, surrounded by a soapy orange blossom and softened by silky iris and dusted with chips of petigrain. The base dries into a woody, musky whiteness, and only here does the perfume veer into a laundry type scent, but that is from the white musk and not the lavender.

Haute Provence really lifts my spirits when I wear it, I think because it smells so natural and refreshing (white musks notwithstanding.) Because it is so affordable I also dare to spritz my pillow once or twice before I go to bed. I highly recommend this if you are in the market for a lovely lavender - orange blossom - iris fragrance.

A spirited lavender with a bergamot inflection. Gone within the hour yet for the price and quality - not always commensurate w longevity - a joy!

The beautiful accord of this gem sneaks into many other Nicolai fragrances and there is good reason - beautiful, subtle herbes de provence.

Dusty classic, powdery, slightly sweet, fern-like, but with a green-sour note that feels almost fruity: quirky.

The combination of lavender and iris is somewhat daring - it evokes associations with Chili Piment Brûlant but softer.

Very pleasant lavender WITHOUT vanilla. Thank you. Not musty, straight, unsweet, herbal. The pleasantly sour note kills any powdery scent. Perfect.

Powdery-sweet-green old school lavender. Unique and good, but unfortunately the association with lavender-based toilet products is overwhelming here...
