WORST OF THE DEVIL SERIES. SMELLS LIKE PURE CINNAMON OIL.
Stomach turning from the very first sniff. The opening is a gag-inducing, ungodly concoction, and I did not like this at all. Something about it smells deeply off, like a strange, misguided blend of essential oils that never agreed to work together.
The opening is truly horrid to me. Burnt and metallic, mixed with cinnamon oil, and medicinal in the worst way. Not a chic apothecary moment. More like pure iodine. It does not read as perfume at all. It smells like someone went wild at an essential oil shop.
Thankfully, this does not project much and stays close to the skin because it is oily as hell. As it settles, it smells almost exactly like pure cinnamon oil. And here is the thing: I already own that. I paid about eight dollars for a bottle of it.
In the drydown, the sandalwood finally tries to show up, but somehow it smells sour. So now we have cinnamon oil plus something sharp and unpleasant. The opening was burnt plus cinnamon oil, and the drydown is cinnamon oil plus sour wood. Neither phase does this any favors.
I normally admire this perfumer’s work, which makes this even more disappointing. This one is a miss for me. It's supposedly meant to smell like sadness and melancholy, and honestly, mission accomplished. It just made me sad. And annoyed.
It's a 100 percent natural blend, for what it is worth. But to my nose, it smells flat, poorly blended, and unfinished. Something here simply is not clicking. I absolutely hate this.
