Semi-Charmed Kind of Fig
After reading a review which stated that Mediterranean Fig was essentially the same as L'artisan's Premier Figuier but a lot less expensive. I thought I would grab this at my local grocery store one day along with the matching soap and lotion to layer with it. Mediterranean Fig is a crisp fresh green fig leaf, a bit of the fig tree twigs, similar to Premier Figuier, and Diptyque's Philosykos (not the sweet fruit, but the tree and leaves)set on a backdrop of Sandalwood for the first 10 minutes or so. What it lacks is the rest of the full bodied sensuality of Premier Figuier, delivered by the addition of milk of almond, sandalwood and coconut. It also lacks longevity of the fig note after the first hour, instead, I smell something which unfortunately reminds me of apple cider vinegar on my skin. It is very linear, then turns into a subtle sandalwood vinaigrette before it fades away entirely after about 3 hours. I love a deal...but...Sorry, this doesn't satisfy my green fig leaf/tree craving at all! Looks like there is some truth to that old saying "You get what you pay for" at least in this case, I will be breaking down and getting the real thing in the near future.
