Neon Moon — Pacifica: A Perfume in a Pickle
Am I insane or does this smell exactly like a jar of pickles on first spray? Because I feel like I might be insane. My chemistry is going nuts against this. It quickly settles down into something a bit more woodsy and green, like sandalwood incense and pine needles, but there's definitely pickling spice hanging around in the background that I just can't shake. Which I guess technically IS a spice, but NOT what I expect when someone describes a fragrance as spicy!
I'm also getting a strong cedar note, though it isn't listed, and the jasmine is either nonexistent or drowned out by everything else.
I'm enjoying exploring greener perfumes lately, and the variation you can find in the "Poison Ivy might wear this" fragrance space is interesting. There's a lot of room for experimentation, from lush wet jungle scents, to juicy cucumbers, to dried herbs and conifers, to -- apparently -- the sharpness of pickles. I do kind of dig it, just because it's interesting, but I have to admit I smell a bit like an old time-y delicatessen with wood floors and a pickle barrel in the corner.
If it's less pickles on you and more jasmine + sandalwood + spice, know that I am exceedingly jealous! Because I can tell how this would be beautiful on someone else.
