Bottle Spirit
Take:
-a wonderful day
-sparkling laughter
-a piece of the surf and waves from the beach
-the clinking of ships in the wind
-the pier in the harbor
-the screeching of seagulls
-shells, sand, and collected stones
-the glitter of the sun on the water
-a bit of nostalgia and a small pinch of sadness
-sun-warmed skin
-the smile of a special person
and that “I-don’t-know-what” feeling of ethereal lightness
Shake well and quickly close the bottle!

Open as needed, let yourself drift, and open your soul wide……

I am perplexed!
Thank you EP for allowing me to test this fragrance. With full confidence, I poured a considerable amount onto my left forearm. Since then, I have been wondering whether I have the right sample or if perhaps the components mentioned here are incorrect or incomplete.

Because what I can smell extremely strongly, especially in the opening, are fig leaves. This fig-leaf top note rises with a certain sweetness, extremely penetrating in my nose.
But I am somewhat comforted when it finally disappears after about 20 minutes. I do like fig scents, but the way the fig leaf is presented here is unpleasant for me.

However, the heart note compensates for this misstep. A wonderful green note, soft and completely unsweet, with a slight woody undertone spreads out. Yes, I like this, even though the heart note seems to contain none of the mentioned components except for wood. Perhaps the carob fruit, which conveys this soft impression. With salt, I would expect this light, aquatic saltiness, as found in "Une Rose au Bord de la Mer" by LPde Rosine. But that is not perceivable here.

Instead, there is a strong leaf green, with the wood of the branches. And it remains that way. I cannot detect any further change even now - after hours. However, the fragrance has become quite weak and is only fleetingly perceivable.

If it weren't for this top note and if the fragrance were a bit stronger in the heart note and lasted accordingly longer, it would be a wonderful scent that I would also wear. As it is, the top note and the weakness of the entire creation spoil some of the fun for me.

A Discontinued Scent Has Been Copied
What is this? Yet another perfume where the most prominent components in the fragrance pyramid are kept secret - fig leaf and vetiver. Customers who acquire a limited scent from Pierre Guillaume are not that clueless!

It is clearly a fig leaf perfume, dominating the top notes and extending into the base. It may be that the note of violet leaf plays a role as well; that is always hard to distinguish. There are several perfumes with fig leaf: Philosykos by Diptyque and Le Premier Figuier by L’Artisan Parfumeur are probably the most well-known.

Bois Naufragé (“Driftwood”) raises some questions: What exactly am I supposed to imagine with the note "driftwood"? And what does carob smell like? I don’t know. What I do know is that Bois Naufragé is the high-quality successor to the apparently discontinued Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme. The remnants of it are still available online for a small price.

Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme was an exceptional fragrance. Here, the note of fig leaf was combined with vetiver in a very harmonious way. Normally, I don’t like fig leaf that much, but in this combination, it was stunning and of enchanting elegance.

Bois Naufragé picks up where this left off. Here too, there is the combination of fig leaf and vetiver - at least that’s what I perceive. The whole thing rests on a subtle, dry-woody base. I consider the details of the fragrance pyramid to be pure poetry. In particular, I know the note of sea salt in a different, more intense form. If it is present at all, it is not perceivable.

Compared to Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme, Bois Naufragé differs in price, but also in quality. The mid-priced Salvatore Ferragamo was a bit scratchier, perhaps also rougher, with more spice. Bois Naufragé strikes me as somewhat finer, more subtle. Unfortunately, the longevity of the fig leaf-vetiver combination is a bit modest. My Salvatore Ferragamo has unfortunately gone off, and so I will have to decide whether to order from the remaining stock again or to go straight for Bois Naufragé.

Bois Naufragé thus comes at the right time. Just like the combination of cedarwood and vetiver, the combination of fig leaf and vetiver also creates a very distinctive note. However, it has so far been denied the success that the combination with cedarwood (Terre d’Hermès) has experienced. Admittedly, the combination with fig leaf is somewhat of an acquired taste. Perhaps it currently suits a niche fragrance better than a mainstream perfume. Any interested fragrance lover is certainly advised to get to know this wonderful combination.

Unfortunately, such things are not washed up as flotsam on the Elbe!
I received Bois Naufragé last Saturday as a monster sample (15 ml). I was quite skeptical when I read the comparison of Apicius to Ferragamo, as the Ferragamo didn't smell great on me.

Right after applying it, I was pleasantly surprised. BN does have similarities to Ferragamo, but thankfully it lacks that scratchiness that Ferragamo developed on my skin.

On my skin, BN has a linear scent development, with a fig note as the main theme. I suspect this note comes from carob. Otherwise, the scent progression goes from spicy fresh to creamy sweet.

All in all, a fine fragrance with very good longevity and a pleasant sillage.

Since PG fragrances are not exactly found in the mass market segment, saving up is probably necessary, as such things are unfortunately not washed up as flotsam on the Elbe.

Sweet fig milk on salty skin, SPF around 0, but still intriguing. Buttery & comparatively ungreen, then too much tonka in the base. OK.

Sweet cola, stale, butyric acid, and a bit of cough syrup fermented into a Karunde substitute coffee gourmand. Creamy-soft finish. Enjoy!

A washed-up fig leaf, and PG thinks it's a carob tree. Mistakes happen. It smells great anyway, like Philosykos.

My sniffed fragrance pyramid: fig, something green, light woods, musk. And so much of the most beautiful MELT to become porous - sigh..!

Competes with "Debaser (Eau de Parfum)", "Balade Sauvage", and "Ichnusa". Wins the "gentle" category, but Debaser takes the fig throne.

It's got something! Very green like freshly cut/raw, smells like tomato leaf (similar to Lilt), unsweetened green-creamy, like!
