Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
Yessss!!!!
Olééééé!!! (okay, I'm currently playing a game with a Mexican theme, it really rubs off on you :D).
It's that time again, a new Prada fragrance from the Infusions line has been released. I can never wait for a new scent to come out, and so recently, just according to my Parfumo motto ("Time will tell, scent will come" :DD), a new fragrance has appeared here!
With these scents, it’s usually the case that basically all of them are good. Well, more or less, and of course depending on personal taste, but for me, they are very good and very beautiful fragrances that also wonderfully prove that synthetic scents can be really great.
However, one should know this: Since these fragrances have a certain trademark almost all Prada scents share, namely clean and soapy notes, the scent is not necessarily suitable for those who do not like this type of fragrance note (and whom I like to refer to as dirt birds or grime balls, who apparently run away from any soap like Pig Pen from the Peanuts :D), as they will likely not connect with these fragrances. But still, I would of course always recommend giving one of these scents a chance and at least sniffing it, as it could definitely be worth it.
So, the new fragrance here includes mandarins, which makes me particularly happy, as I quite like mandarins in fragrances (and of course to eat)! Well then, let me start sniffing :)
The scent:
So, the scent starts as indicated with mandarins, oranges, and neroli. Actually, you don’t immediately smell the mandarins, as I could perceive the neroli better at the beginning. It takes a few minutes before you finally notice the mandarins. From these little citrus fruits, you mainly smell the slightly sweet and deliciously fragrant flesh, while from the oranges, you can smell the more bitter-scented peel.
As the mandarins become a bit stronger over time and later are the strongest citrus notes in the fragrance, the scent sometimes even feels like you are drinking a fruity fresh lemonade with mandarin flavor (well, at least it briefly reminded me of the Turkish refreshing drink "yedigün" with mandarin flavor... oh, just Google it, it’s basically just the Turkish version of the Spanish Miranda drinks, only with mandarin instead of orange).
Even in the base, the mandarin remains, which is great, as in most mandarin fragrances, the mandarin note quickly evaporates, but here it really lasts for quite some time.
And of course, there is the typical Prada note that gives a fragrance a clean and fresh aura with slightly creamy-powdery notes. However, this "Prada DNA" comes in quite late and is also noticeably weaker here than in the other Infusion scents, but it is still present. All in all, a weak sillage-wise, but olfactorily (in my opinion) very beautiful summer fragrance!
The sillage and longevity:
Unfortunately, the sillage is quite low. Although you are used to most of the Infusion scents not being particularly strong, this mandarin scent is among the weakest in the line, so you should get quite close to smell it on others.
The longevity is surprisingly okay (for a citrus mandarin scent), as I could smell it well on myself for almost seven hours.
The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular with slightly rounded edges or corners. On the front, you can see the familiar Prada metal plaque. The fragrance name is on a narrow orange label on the side of the bottle, while on the opposite side, another label lists the fragrance contents. The cylindrical cap is surrounded by the typical Prada synthetic leather, which this time is orange. At first glance, it resembles the yellow bottle of Infusion de Mimosa, but as mentioned, it is orange here. As always, a very beautiful and handy bottle.
Oh, the scent is wonderful! Yes, yes, of course, this is just my opinion, especially since I really like mandarin scents and the Infusion fragrances from Prada in general, but for me, after the slightly disappointing (but still somewhat nice!) Infusion de Mimosa, this has become an extremely great scent from this line, which only has two actual points of criticism: First, the scent is unfortunately quite weak in terms of sillage, and second, strictly speaking, the scent is nothing really new, meaning you shouldn’t expect anything extraordinary. Although the latter is not really a criticism for me, as long as the scent smells good.
And it is indeed very well made, smells very nice, and that is always the main thing. Anyone who loves citrus scents, especially with a slightly sweet (but still citrusy) mandarin and orange note that can also be a bit creamier, should definitely check out this scent. Even those who usually shy away from soap can approach this scent, as it has a less pronounced soapy note :D
You still don’t want to? Hmm…
Maybe I can encourage everyone to take a closer look at the scent if I write that it gives you a very pleasant feeling, as if you were sitting in a cozy cloud high up in the blue sky, snacking on mandarins. "Yes, yes, one could just fall through the clouds," some might say now, but I’m trying to tell a imaginative, beautiful story, damn it! You know, sprinkle a little fairy dust, swirl around some cat hair, build up a mental movie, spread joy, stimulate the imagination, and so on and so forth… but no, you still fall through the clouds and land on your bare bottom, right? (and just don’t ask me why the bottom has to be bare :DD). Tsss… well, fine, then don’t test it :D
But you would miss out on a totally great scent that would fit perfectly into summer and is also very wearable on really hot days. Due to the weak projection, however, as is often the case, it is only suitable for daytime or leisure use, as you will hardly notice it when going out. Well… if necessary, you can always fill it in mini sprays or travel sizes and occasionally reapply :)
