Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Toilette doesn't strike me as a primarily aquatic scent. Its opening is pretty synthetic, but that doesn't last long, as it immediately turns into a spicy and fresh mix of bergamot and pink pepper. Minutes after, the fragrance brings some herbaceous notes into play, like the sage and mugwort, and you also get a nice lavender and iris undertone. But as for the saffron or suede leather, my nose can't pick either.
As it settles down, the musk, vetiver and patchouli, a classic combination of notes, take over to make for a dry, fresh and musky finisher. It's pleasant, overall; inoffensive, spicy, citrusy, fresh, but also pretty boring. I've smelt much more interesting and pleasing fresh fragrances.
Longevity is pretty decent, actually, especially for an eau de toilette concentration. At least on my skin, I got about 6-7 hours of longevity. But by the 3 hour mark, the fragrance had already turned into a skin scent, so I'd go for about 6-8 sprays on a wearing, especially since projection (for me) is very poor here. I constantly asked friends around if they could smell my fragrance, but the only way they could feel it is by shoving their nose onto my neck. Only the first half an hour to maybe an hour you get some better projection; around a feet or so. But in the end, fresh fragrances, especially eau de toilette concentrations, aren't known for beastly projection or extreme longevity.
For occasions, I'd say Luna Rossa Ocean would be great for everyday wear during the summer and/or spring. You can wear it leisurely, at school, at work, or at sports/gym. Given its poor projection and simple, fresh, clean scent, it won't offend anyone. But if you are looking to get people's attention, then this is definitely not the fragrance you're looking for.
However, I do believe that there are better fresh fragrances out there that can be had for the money. Better fragrances that stick out more and nail the aquatic, oceany type of feel better. If you enjoy Luna Rossa Ocean's DNA, but wish for better projection, then maybe the
Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Parfum might treat you better. But I can't say much regarding that, as I haven't tested the eau de parfum variant.
Regardless, this is a decent fragrance for casual, summer wear, but it's forgettable, and it's just not good enough to justify itself over the many other options out there.
