…mostly yes!
If I had to compare the new fragrance from Prada, I would say it is very much reminiscent of
Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Toilette.
In some moments, especially in the transition from top to heart notes, I can also clearly see parallels to
Luna Rossa Sport.
However, I personally found the latter less pleasant, as it simply does not feel rounded and harmonious. The new Le Parfum does this significantly better.
Nevertheless, and I think this should be clear to everyone, Prada is not reinventing the wheel here! One should approach such fragrances with a reasonable and rational expectation.
A Luna Rossa is a Luna Rossa, and I find it remarkable that Prada has created a fundamental DNA here that is consistently recognizable.
More specifically, I am talking about a rather elegant note, which is mostly perceived through fine powdery notes. This DNA resonates here as well, albeit somewhat less pronounced.
The fragrance starts with a distinct citrus note and is therefore quite fresh.
The heart note is gracefully skipped by the Prada newcomer, as I smell nothing of saffron here, which personally pleases me. Saffron is certainly on everyone's lips due to some fragrances, but it is not my world.
In contrast, the base note becomes much more apparent, into which the fragrance dives at breathtaking speed.
Sweetly appearing amber and a rather dry, woody note are quickly recognizable.
However, the fragrance initially loses very little of its freshness, which changes over time.
As is often the case, the citrus fades away, leaving behind a sweetness that shines on an amber base, paired with a still dry, woody note.
Sillage and projection are quite strong at the beginning, but after 1-2 hours, it noticeably flattens out. In terms of longevity, Prada lasts around 6-7 hours on my skin.
The bottle is quite successful, although the name and bottle color once again do not really match the fragrance, but that is nothing new and does not automatically make it bad. I find the spray head less appealing, but I feel that way about all Luna Rossa variants...
Conclusion:
Anyone who owns
Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Toilette and is satisfied with it will probably only need this when the bottle is empty.
For those who own
Luna Rossa Sport and would like it to be rounder and a bit fresher on their wish list, a test would probably not be a bad idea.
