A Surprising Find (Kayali Vanilla|28 Alternative)
When I first tested this fragrance in the drugstore, I immediately thought, wow, this is a great vanilla scent that resembles "Vanilla | 28 (Eau de Parfum) | Kayali."
The opening is admittedly very synthetic.
You have to get through the first one to two minutes, then a wonderful, sweet, and spicy vanilla unfolds.
What surprised me: Vanilla is not listed in the official fragrance pyramid; instead, vanilla orchid plays a very prominent role here.
It remains the dominant note from the opening to the end.
In the drydown, the fragrance becomes a bit less sweet, but still remains very sweet.
I also perceive a slightly earthy nuance, which probably comes from the patchouli.
Otherwise, the fragrance hardly changes.
The sweetness, by the way, comes from brown sugar.
So it is not particularly complex and lacks depth, but for a fragrance in the price range of only 7 euros, you can't expect much more.
The performance is, as often with La Rive, rather moderate.
To be noticed, you should spray generously here.
For me, it is a feminine fragrance.
Most men would probably not like it, but any man who wears Vanilla | 28 Eau de Parfum can also wear this one well.
My conclusion: I already own an alternative to Vanilla | 28 Eau de Parfum and therefore would not purchase this fragrance, also because the quality and performance of La Rive fragrances, in my experience, are often not that great.
Nonetheless, this fragrance has potential.
La Rive captures the DNA of Vanilla 28 quite well here, even though it is not a 1:1 dupe.
Kudos for that!
