Ultra-realistic sunscreen in fragrance form
This is the most realistic sunscreen fragrance I have ever smelled. It even dries down the same as sunscreen does. A bit sharper and creamy-floral from the bottle, warmer and smoother after it was rubbed on the skin.
Solare doesn't resemble a coconutty sunscreen à la Hawaiian Tropic, it's closer to a classic European suntan milk with orange blossom as the main scent. Apparently this is a dupe of the Nivea Sun fragrance, but to be honest I haven't tried that one and I don't recall Nivea Sun products ever being a staple in my family. Nor have I ever bought them myself as an adult. There are definitely other sunscreens that smell similar to this, too.
It's a very creamy, but fresh white floral and vanilla scent with a hint of coconut in the drydown. I find it kind of hard to single out the notes, because the blend as a whole is so familiar. It just smells like a bottle of sunblocker.
Too funny that I ignored this for a while because the name and the yellow & white packaging made me think this was a Jil Sander Sun dupe. It has nothing to do with Sun at all. Maybe more people got confused and that's why it disappeared from most stores so quickly? It's a great, nostalgic scent and costs next to nothing, it should be popular.
It also lasts extremely well on me, every time I tried it in the evening I could still clearly smell it the whole morning.
I bought a bottle of this in autumn last year and waited patiently to wear it in summer. Even though it smells perfectly fine in colder temperatures, I wanted the full experience of having this summery scent around me when it's warm. Today the day had finally come. It's so lovely, it makes me feel clean and calm and happy.
