The Eurientale
In addition to the 14 fragrances that are fortunately now available in various German perfumeries, Ramón Monegal has created some Special Editions that can be purchased, among other places, at the in-house perfumery in Barcelona. Hand in Hand Rose & Oudh is one of these fragrances.
Those who know me are aware that I am a big fan of the 14 by Ramón Monegal. In this context, I was of course very curious about the Special Editions and can test them, thanks to samples. However, Hand in Hand unfortunately has just as much oriental character as German beer.
The opening is initially truly wonderfully beautiful. Sweetly scented roses generously and very convincingly present their perfume. However, this delightful accord lasts only a short while, then a woody note comes in that I can only identify as Oud with both eyes closed.
This Oud lacks the warm, oriental, smoky note that usually defines it. It is too weak and therefore feels more European than oriental to me. The delicate sweetness of the rose is completely lost because of this.
Then this weak Oud note, along with the rose, also takes on a very soapy accord, which unfortunately lingers until the end and diminishes my enjoyment of this fragrance.
The longevity of this note is enormous; multiple washes - including shampoo contact while washing my hair - could not remove Hand in Hand from my wrist. The sillage is close to the body, so the fragrance is hardly perceptible in projection.
I love the 14 by Ramón Monegal, and also one of the Special Editions that I already know - Mediterranean Memories - but Hand in Hand Rose & Oudh does not appeal to me at all. The Oud is too weak, too little oriental, and in connection with the rose, it is just a sharp rose soap.
Dear Ramón, I am truly sorry that I cannot rate this fragrance better, as much as I would like to.
