Good, but not golden
I was lucky enough to find this rare fragrance in my home country and I was excited to test it out, as the notes were intriguing to me and I heard this had a serious leather backbone. In reality, it is good, but not quite what I expected.
The opening is strong and beautiful, with a dense, sweet violet (with small fruity nuances) and a slight lavender for a creamy touch. With the gurjum balsam and the leather lurking in the background, this is the best part of the fragrance, which unfortunately lasts only about 1 hour.
Starting from the second hour, the tonka bean makes its presence felt and becomes the main note of the fragrance. Gurjum balsam and the violet are still present, but overshadowed, while the leather is in the background. At this point, I do not smell any lavender, but maybe it only helps to make the composition creamier. This lasts for about 4 hours, until the fragrance becomes a skin scent for 2 more hours, when I only feel the tonka bean. Uomo Golden Anniversary is a linear scent, but a pleasant one.
This scent is elegant. Not black-tie, but it's better worn dressed-up at a night out, date, or even at the office and in the colder months (fall/early spring, maybe even summer nights, but I don't think it will have lasting power in the winter). On my skin, it has about 4-5 hours of medium projection and after 7-8 hours I can't smell the scent at all.
Uomo Golden Anniversary is a good fragrance, especially for the price I paid (58$) and has a well blended sweet-spicy-creamy composition that any younger gentleman could rock, but has no groundbreaking elements to separate it from any other designer release. So, if you look for a more unique fragrance, this would not be it.
Though, if you are looking for a modern, but elegant fragrance at about the 60$ mark and like tonka-based scents, you can give this one a shot, if you can find it.
