A very good boozy, woody and mossy fragrance
Bonded is a beautifully constructed fragrance that conjures the deep and atmospheric world of aged bourbon and old world artisanship, boasting boldness and unapologetic masculinity.
At its heart, Bonded is a portrait of a dry, authentic bourbon whiskey accord; not sweet, gourmand iteration, but instead a realistic accord that embodies all the complexities of the charred oak barrel and warmth of bourbon whiskey alcohol, and this central note flows sensibly into a heavy, earth oakmoss that grounds the fragrance with a classic and almost vintage feel.
Finally, the composition is deepened, nuanced, and given a touch of smoky, leathery sophistication by a dark tobacco note. There is also a subtle, yet clearly audible Vietnamese agarwood note that gives a resinous woody backing and adds depth and longevity to the fragrance.

A Ghost Town Barber
All they found of the town of Bonded were moss-covered timbers of a hut, the remains of some of which had sunk into the floating peat, everything else seemed to have disappeared. But everywhere there were root lumps growing out of the humid ground, the ghost of the old barber of that town. His brushes of damp green tobacco leaves. The nut-grassy, crackling soft foam in the oak jar that he used for mixing and sometimes also for the bourbon. He made thought photographs with vanilla grains and maple syrup crystals in the old reseda and sepia colors. They were all shaved when they went home again.

Californian self-taught perfumer Manuel Cross has only been producing fragrances for his own Rogue label since 2017. Anyone who has smelled a few of his fragrances will be able to blindly recognize his very own DNA, as it is mostly heavy, earthy, rather vintage-oriented mosses that carry his creations.
This also applies to "Bonded", although the oakmoss here in combination with the Vietnamese oud initially comes across as a slightly sour, rooty, bulbous vetiver-nagarmotha hybrid, naturally very earthy and woody and, in the course of time, also subtly soapy. The bourbon-whiskey accord scatters slightly vanilla-like maple syrup crystals and I imagine that this is what gives the earthy notes a peaty twist. The tobacco also strikes me as green and spicy, having just been harvested and lying in the damp mosses.
All in all, this combination suggests a classic vintage barbershop fragrance. Even if this term is more of a vague convention, “Bonded” only contains elements that are associated with it. The barber's scent is clearly to moderately perceptible for several hours.

Boozy done right....
Another masterpiece. The bar is set so high for Rogue and it just keeps getting higher with Bonded.

Starts out with some spicey bourbon and I get an orange peel note. It's not listed but suspect it is part of the bourbon note in general. Smells similar to an old fashioned. Tobacco comes trotting in shortly to play along with the boozy note. It softens up through the middle and some mossiness adds some depth. Finally on the dry down, Vietnamese Oud puts this bad boy over the top at the end.

I am NOT an oud guy at all, but this version of oud is very nice and pleasant and compliments this entire scent. It's really the only scent that has oud in it that I really like. Some research has shown that Vietnamese Oud is more smooth and sweet versus funky and musty. So there is hope for me liking some oud based scents.

This is an absolute banger of a scent.

Clint Eastwood's Signature Scent
The headline already describes it. Bonded is an incredibly successful composition and doesn't necessarily smell like a perfume; it rather portrays a personality.

Imagine a beautiful, photorealistic, alcoholic note that is unmatched, shaped by the oak barrels in which the bourbon whiskey has matured, slightly sweet, soaked with oak moss that gives it this shaving cream and fougere touch. The tobacco rounds it off with a distinctive masculine note, and the oud floats in the background, pleasing yet present, contributing to the masculine character.

Bonded truly left me speechless. It is truly great art that Cross has performed here. Often, fragrances with massive performance are described in such a way that they "would wear you instead of being worn." With Bonded, the performance is great, but it is the character that this scent uncompromisingly embodies-a very classically masculine man who smells of fresh shaving, clean whiskey, and tobacco, and does so in an alluringly pleasing way.

And therefore, one rightly asks the question: "Can I wear this? Will people buy it or will I make a fool of myself?" Because this scent signals exactly this type, yes, archetype.

The creator behind this creation did not care about trends. This is not a hundredth Tyger or Layton clone. There is nothing cute about this. This is quite a statement fragrance, niche, unique, and yet so successful and attractive as it dances on this fine line. You find yourself wanting to smell it again and again. Thank you, Manuel Cross, for creating such fragrances even today.

Why do the best smells last so short? Beautiful boozy tobacco with a thick backbone of moss. Really fancy. But gone in 4 hours time.

Nice earthy, smoky boozy tobacco. The bourbon accord is not overly sweet and with the tobacco, "safe" oud and moss, just plain rocks!

I don’t care for bourbon whiskey but I’ve still enjoyed the hell out of Bonded. He’s a bad boy with a warm heart who likes to party.

One of my personal favorite tobacco-centered fragrances. Wonderfully blended. Not overly sweet, dense or cloying. Great!

It shares the same core of tree moss and patchouli with Mousse Illuminée, but adds a deeper base of tobacco and oud.

While I am not really reminded of tobacco, it's a nice dry woody scent, then more oak barrel than actual whisky, that turns soapy oakmoss-ish

Moss and oud create a beautiful base, smoky and earthy. The synthetic tobacco note reminds me of cherry liqueur. Guerlain Ideal ?*
