Not worth spending money on even the sample
Imagine what this Frankenstein is made of. Davidoff cool water mixed with ADG Light Blue if it got botox injections and synthetic nails. Screechy synthetic soup. I know Simone is no hero when it comes to copying other brands work. His Malibu is one of the most praised Creed workovers, and I enjoy it too, almost through my bottle of it. But this, this is not good.

As is if two different people were making the collection of Andreoli. Straight from the top you get messy alone battling mastic accord. There is zero juniper there and plenty Iso E and that popular Gaiac wood synthetic accord. Nowhere near well blended either. I am in shock and just repulsed by the pricetag.

Complex Balancing Act Between Blue and Green
When the consultant at the perfumery holds this fragrance out to me unsolicited, I'm amused at first: This is supposed to suit me? The opening on the test strip is far too synthetic for my taste, and amidst the dense, alcohol-laden blast, I even think I catch a whiff of Haribo at first.

“Not really,” I tell her - friendly, but with the clear intention of avoiding further similar suggestions.

Somehow, the test strip ends up staying with the other two in my hand, between which I actually want to decide. And then: Wait a minute, which fragrance was that again? It beats the other two by a mile! Somewhat sheepishly, I ask her about it. The consultant grins mischievously: “Good, isn't it?”

Despite the bottle's clone-like charm and its clumsy name, my interest is piqued. There's nothing synthetic anymore - on the contrary. Yes, it recalls the woodier Acqua di Gio flankers, but the complexity is far greater. The green facets demand their place on stage without becoming a threat to the fresh, blue character.

I'm convinced enough to try it on my skin. At €180 per bottle, I want to experience all the phases.

After 10, 15 minutes, the highlight begins for me. I wish my Chanel Bleu EdP could manage the balancing act between wood and blue even half as well. Alongside the patchouli, I believe I detect cedar, though it isn't listed among the base notes. The citrus stays in the background—thank God! We're far from the usual shower gel territory here, even though I clearly get that typical blue “just out of the shower” feeling.

As the drydown progresses, a salty character emerges, reminiscent of the style Le Sel d'Issey is bringing back into fashion. Unlike Issey Miyake, however, it's more of a fine seasoning rather than a heavy-handed shake from the salt shaker.

I could let this go on forever. Even in the final phase, the fragrance convinces me, now clearly woodier. Applied for an aperitif, it evolves from blue-green cleanliness to something increasingly more rugged and darker—perfect to still be a fitting companion after dinner.

Unfortunately, it's gone from my skin after a good 4–5 hours - Simone Andreoli doesn't even come close to the above-average longevity of Prada L'Homme on me. But that's fine - the scent falls into my “after 5 p.m.” category and easily lasts through the evening. For the office, it's too intriguing for my taste, but that's definitely subjective.

Are €180 justified? Viewed soberly, the price is too high. But we're talking about complexity and niche character in a realm I clearly place in the high-end segment. Nobody's being ripped off here.

Ocean of a Midnight Moon is, in my opinion, the perfect upgrade for anyone wanting more complexity from their Acqua di Gios, Bleu de Chanels, Ks, etc., without sacrificing freshness and cleanliness. It fits both a T-shirt and a suit, and works just as well at 35 as it does at 50.

The most sensitive sandstorm, the darkest surf
"Ocean of a Midnight Moon" is such a special, dark and multi-layered oceanic that you could almost think at first sniff that this is not an aquatic at all. At first, my nose even thought it was in the desert sand and suggested sandalwood or even incense as an anchor. But this thing is much more complex than you could pin down to a few key points. You have to use your head and nose. The lovely saleswoman told me that, according to the perfumer, over 60 different ingredients are balanced to form a unity and a journey - and I can't and don't want to contradict her...

"Ocean of a Midnight Swim" has similarities to designer hits with the sound of the sea and coastal spray. But it is still so much more, so much deeper, so much more characterful. High quality without end. A refreshment in the glow of the moon, a stalactite cave full of luminescence. You first have to achieve such a texture as "Aquate". And the many different nuances really blend together, they don't bite each other and don't stand out. Quite the opposite. It's muscular, it's powerful without being a beast. A gooseberry roche. An apocalyptic wave that washes over deserts and mountains. Above all, once again a real oak moss extremity. The drydown has steam and pressure, is timeless and old-school, earthy and massively green. Not necessarily natural, more on the synthetic side. But that doesn't rule out greatness. Calcified, never old. A splash of Orient, my first impression certainly doesn't cloud my judgment. But really just a few spices. High facade, lots behind it. Berry and seafood. Maritime and intimate. Salty and slightly malty. Bitter mint, fresh breeze, no crisis, makes you Poseidon's Prinze'.

Flacon: black and serious
Sillage: potent af
Longevity: 8 hours upwards, up to a bombastic 12 hours

Conclusion: no chaos, no cacophony, no cesspool. "Ocean of a Midnight Moon" lives up to its poetic name and enchants with a deep black sea(le) with a green shimmer, quietly resting and deeply touching!

Great aquat with a lot of depth and noble woody-green-spicy freshness
Another Simone Andreoli and another new addition to my collection this year: Ocean of a Midnight Moon from the Poetry of Night series. An absolutely awesome series and an absolutely recommendable brand. Fragrances in this series are absolutely suitable for the night, as the name suggests. Even if this one goes in a fresher direction, it also has dark and mysterious vibes. Rated a mere 7.6 here, this one hovers well below the radar and many inexperienced consumers will be put off by this. In some social media videos, this is also recommended as a top recommendation and compliment-getter, but more on an insider tip basis without having any hype. This DNA has a lot of potential in my eyes, as you get pleasing freshness paired with unique notes. So it's not something you'll smell like every day. In my eyes, it's definitely a very high-quality, fresh fragrance that leaves a good impression.

The RRP of €185 per 100ml is a little overpriced, even if it is a high-quality fragrance. However, you can get it for between €120 and €150, which is fair in my eyes. Especially because this fragrance already has niche quality and can easily keep up with the popular designer fragrances.
Packaging is chic: you get a great black box that's not too big and is decorated with gold lettering and patterns. Not too much frills and this brand stays true to its style. Easier to dispose of than so many other niche brands.
If you want to know where this journey is heading: Acqua di Giò Profumo Parfum is a great example. Not on a fragrance twin basis, but on a fragrance type basis. These two fragrances serve the aquatic direction with this noble spicy-woody and here slightly greenish touch. You don't necessarily have to be an aquatic fan for these fragrances. You get a noble fragrance that can be used in a variety of ways. Here, it is also somewhat mysterious and simply very fresh for the evening.
Maritime and ozonic notes are particularly prominent in the top note. There is also some citric freshness thanks to various citrusy-tart notes. In addition to the great citric aquatics, there is a great greenish mint, balsam fir and driftwood. A great blend that fits perfectly into this aquatic. This woody aquatic is not for the heat, but offers a great evening vibe. This woody aquatic also works well on not too hot summer days and mild temperatures. Myrtle and artemisia are also present, although the myrtle is not reminiscent of those typical algae scents a la Acqua di Sale. There is also something greenish and mossy, which can also go well with aquatics. Patchouli offers a great dark, mysterious base that sets in a little earlier. All in all, a very harmonious creation of aquatics, some citrus and lots of wood with greenish spice. It already has a lot of depth and for a freshie can be used very well with an elegant outfit.
Performance is top. 10+ hours of longevity and the sillage is perfect for a fresh fragrance with style. Should be tested if you are looking for fresh fragrances with staying power.

Overall, a great fragrance that is sure to catch some compliments. Should be tried if you are looking for a fresh fragrance with depth. Due to the green-spicy-woody notes, it is only semi-fresh, which makes it best worn in the evening. Should not necessarily be bought blind, as this fragrance (as you can see from the ranking here) will not appeal to everyone.

"Oh it's you, you smell so good here!"
Super fresh, great durability and nuclear radiance

Signature worthy. Goes with any season, similar to a Dior Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, or Creed Aventus. Also suits all occasions. So for me, it's a fragrance that I can reach for blindly if I don't know in the morning what exactly I want to spray on today. It does this without becoming boring. Anyone who has had their fill of the aforementioned fragrances and is looking for a slightly different DNA should definitely give this one a try.

Compliments are guaranteed. You stand out because the fragrance has an incredible sillage. During my short 4-hour shift, I was approached by several people because I could still be seen from meters away. The fragrance manages this without being overpowering. When you wear it, you always get a fresh whiff and enjoy the fragrance.

In my opinion, the fragrance is not really complex. Fresh, citrusy, aquatic, but also slightly woody. A super masculine fragrance that is in no way inferior to the mass appeal of Aventus or Sauvages.

A Blue/Green scent that reminds me of ADG Profumo with amped up greens soaked in salt water. Performance is great.
