Cocoa ... Me want COCOA!!
As far as chocolate fragrances go, this is the business.
I had "Amour de Cacao" by CSP but was finding it too plain, simple and linear.
I wanted more.
Chocolate, is, after all, made for gluttony. Right?

These are the official notes as listed on the Tokyo Milk site:
- Cake Flour
- Dark Cacao Bean
- Osmanthus
- Bronzed Musk (don't ask)

Pour in a bowl, mix well, and what do you get?
Well something very befitting to its name actually, a complex mixture that is both ... bitter and sweet.
It has a powdery/doughy softness, a 100% cacao powder bitterness, a sweet and fruity twang, and a caramelised musk at its roots.
Do I like it?
Well, what da ya think?

Chocolate cookie
To me this is a bitter chocolate opening, wich turns to sweet cookie like. It has a biscuit note. The osmantus gives it a flowery smell to it. But it remains a chocolate cookie.

Milk Chocolate Powder...
Mmmmm what a lovely scent from Tokyo Milk Parfumerie! I get a lot of dark chocolate powder, then softened by milk chocolate, and a mix of light florals... with a lot of musk, clean white musk. It's a very nice fragrance. It blends with the skin well, and stays as a skin scent for a long time.

I think that people who love chocolate fragrances will like this one. It appeals to the gourmand side and the sweet side, but it also has enough dryness to be appreciated by people who don't. It's quite versatile in that respect. I like it, and I would recommend it if you have a taste for chocolate, or these types of scents. A good little fragrance!

Bittersweet, is more "sweet" than "bitter".
And indeed very sweet, almost cloying, heavy, full-bodied and rich.
I smell dark chocolate at the beginning, almost an overdose of chocolate, very opulent and intense, I can hardly stand it and have to turn away from my wrist. It makes me feel nauseous.
Okay, after a minute it has softened a bit, and I sniff again at my hand.
The chocolate note is still present, somewhat less overpowering, and fades more into the background.
To this note, a scent of "not quite fully baked cake" mixes in, but unfortunately it now smells synthetic - artificial.
Chocolate has completely disappeared and it now reminds me of burnt milk.
I don't perceive any floral notes.
The top note is too intense for me and the base note smells too artificial, only in the middle do I perceive a pleasant chocolate note for a short time.
No, this is only for true gourmand fans, chocoholics, and cake lovers.

Bittersweet Floral Cocoa
After the fiasco with the song in D Minor, Bittersweet revealed itself to be quite conciliatory on my skin.

The opening is initially a bit soapy and keeps the floral note in check for about 10 minutes.

However, the heart note then unfolds in full floral splendor, and a powdery-bitter cocoa note proves to be a well-chosen counterpart. The bitter and the sweet balance each other perfectly on my skin.

Unfortunately, the cocoa note is no longer perceptible in the base, and the flowers are slowly buried under a vanillic sweetness. The drydown is indeed a bit artificial, but this doesn't bother me much with this fragrance, as the intensity is very subdued.

Considering that we are olfactorily in the lower price segment here, I must say that I have smelled much worse for significantly more money.

Conclusion: Not bad!

A rare (beautiful) case of a rather unsweet gourmand fragrance. Maybe that's why the low ratings? Cocoa and dough scent without overwhelming sweetness.

Start: Cocoa soap, middle part: Bitter chocolate meets Osmanthus = apricot scent = sweet. Theme/name perfectly captured, set, "one".

Bronze musk, actually a rusty top note, possibly also patina, the rest exactly as described: dark chocolate cake + lots of osmanthus.

The bottle: Exactly my thing. But unfortunately, the chocolate fades quickly on me and only smells like floral Osmanthus. Too bad, I would have loved it.

The osmanthus chocolate is initially hard to swallow due to its (full) floral intensity. Delicately balanced at the heart.

I love Bittersweet. Alone - at home - not in public. Reason: good memories. Chocolate cake mix aroma.

Delicious chocolate cake with lots of flower honey in it. So tempting :-) Unfortunately, I find the bottle creepy.

Delicious, not too sweet cocoa powder scent. It doesn't get fruity on me at all, but it disappears incredibly quickly. Such a shame.
