the vanilla hater's vanilla

She's dark and seductive. She's woody. She's eccentric. I despise most vanilla-forward fragrances. I love her.

Usually, I can tolerate vanilla as a supporting character. If the focus isn't vanilla, I don't mind her being around. In Tainted Love, she's not the main character, but she's also not in the background. If anything, everyone feels like a strong part to the story, an ensemble cast. Vanilla fights and wins, because everyone else does too.

I will buy this until it doesn't exist anymore. It was my first "big-girl" perfume purchase, and she will always have a special place in my heart. I will always recommend her to anyone looking for something strange and sexy, unusual but familiar. Bold, warm, and something that plays well with the heat of fun dates ;)

vanilla with an edge

dark, exotic, smooth vanilla bean that appeals to those of us who usually loathe the scent of vanilla as too common. this vanilla? slaps your ass and makes you her bitch. really no idea why...must be its pairing with orchid and sandalwood that gives it its edge. tainted love indeed! MEOW!

Not as great as the song of the same name..

Already with the name “Tainted Love” I could hear the song of the same title in my ears, specifically in the Marilyn Manson version, not the one from the 80s, I don’t like 80s music.
I was so excited about this fragrance.
I had high expectations:
The black mystical bottle, the fragrance notes, and the name suggested a seductive, exotic, dark, and mysterious perfume.
At first, I was very enthusiastic about the top note:
Orchids with a hint of vanilla on a bed of sandalwood.
The name fits perfectly, I thought at this point: dark, mysterious, and very enchanting.
Absolutely fantastic. Yes, this is sexy, seductive, and a little wicked.
Round, soft, and harmoniously coordinated fragrance components make the scent a real experience.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay that way. After just 5 minutes, the fragrance transforms, for the worse, in my opinion. The vanilla takes over, and the orchid completely disappears. What remains is a sweet vanilla scent that reminds me of Christmas cookies, sugary sweet vanilla biscuits. The delicious sandalwood base can’t save it anymore.
There’s nothing sexy or enchanting left here.
What a shame, it started so great and then declined so sharply.

Really wished I loved it, but instead of tea or sandalwood I just get 'dusty vanilla', like hand lotion that expired and went off. Alas.
