Nostalgic, cozy, and fresh sweetness

This scent is one of the many that I blind-bought because I prefer to live dangerously and also because lots and lots of scents are just not available for testing in the stores. I expected it to be boring and lacking depth, but just good enough to put it on when I don't know what I want to wear. And luckily I was totally wrong about that!

This cute little cheapie actually has a lot of personality while being easy to wear. I would even risk it and say it might as well be signature worthy if you like berry-centric perfumes. The fruits are blue and purple in a nostalgic way to me, something feels so reminiscent of late 90's or the early y2k era... but I just can't figure out what it reminds me of. The patchouli in this is smooth and sweet that give just enough depth to the yummy, fresh, and juicy fruits to prevent the scent from coming off as overly juvenile (not that I'd have anything against a cutesy girly frag).

Either way, I think it would suit anyone with a whimsy goth aesthetic, or something similar vibe that mixes dark and fun, cute styles. Considering how cheap it is I'm very pleasantly surprised and happy to own this scent.

I dare to commit another act of majesty insult. This perfume is said to be inspired by La vie est belle. I tried LVEB as a miniature and must say that I didn't find the classic particularly special. I should mention that I don't know if there have been reformulations and how the original version smells. Saphir is, like the other d'orient stones, very peculiar. The notes play together. The scent has an interesting development, making it smell extraordinary. Quite difficult to describe except for sweet and slightly oriental. I don't particularly like very sweet fragrances, but Varens scents are very wearable and my perfumes (except mini sexy) have good sillage and longevity.

P. S.: I must add that, in my opinion, this scent can pass as unisex despite its sweetness. I can wear it well, of course in moderation, even in heat. I find the composition very successful and think it's a shame that one cannot see who the nose behind it is.

Moonstone fly and win!

After I just held the packaging and bottle under my daughter's nose, she simply said: Sailormoon! And then she started singing: Moonstone fly and win....
After I looked at a picture of a moon with Sailormoon on the internet, I also know why that seemed familiar to me :D

Varens d'Orient Saphir may seem oriental (by name) - but there is nothing of that in it.
It starts off very pleasantly with berries and peach, as far as I can interpret the fruits. Juicy sweet, gourmand, and beautiful! The fruits also remain round and melting on the skin for some time, until the rose and jasmine come in, all harmonious, nothing overly emphasized. Nothing loud, nothing cheeky, finely tuned.
And by then I had the faint feeling: I know this scent, I’ve smelled something similar before.

The base is a beautiful minimalist vanilla mixed with amber and patchouli, nothing is harsh, nothing scratches, the scent remains fruity-sweet-floral with a lovely base.
And suddenly I knew it: it smells almost like Amor Amor Mon Parfum Du Soir by Cacharel.
Only Varens d'Orient Saphir stays a bit less sweet in the base, but rounder and creamier and subtly powdery.
For the price, the perfume is truly a little discovery; of course, the sillage is not as long-lasting as with other fragrances. However, that's not a problem at all for the price.
Varens d'Orient Saphir was a blind buy that I do not regret; I don’t find the bottle ugly at all. Sure, you don’t get a designer bottle for 8 bucks, and the scent becomes skin-close after 2 hours, but the price-performance ratio is definitely right here.
I also repeat myself here: Cheap doesn’t have to smell artificially cheap, it really doesn’t for my nose (and my daughter's nose, who wears Versace, etc.).
A year-round scent for women who like sweet-gourmand-powdery light fragrances! It lifts your spirits, the scent takes itself and the environment lightly...

... and now I have a catchy tune!!!
Addendum: The longevity is really remarkable for the scent. Until last night, about 10 hours later, I could still smell it on my skin, albeit faintly, but it was there! And that happens to me with very few fragrances!

It echoes in my head again and again when I discover something interesting on Parfumo. I hope there's decent money for it because I usually leave mine on that old Amazon button. They really have everything... Allegedly even unhappy employees. Damn, I need to get my addiction under control.

But now back to the topic:
I got that old sapphire for a mere 8 euros, with Prime shipping free. So, unbeatable in price.

The bottle is really ugly, but made of heavy, blue glass. With a nicer cap and less writing, a lot could have been achieved.

The scent is sweet and powdery, yet quite unobtrusive but well perceivable. It reminds me a bit of Lolita Lempicka's sweet, just without the chocolate note. And it lasts more than 12 hours. It has a subtle progression, but I can't pick out individual notes, especially no specific flower types. Instead, there's sugar-candy or cotton, drop-like, fruity, sweet, a bit like the bath bomb think pink from Lush that I like so much. It's a wonderfully warm, soft, sweet scent that you want to wrap yourself in like a warm blanket.

When it's used up, which can actually happen, it will go back in the shopping cart.
