Vanilla Treasure
Cheap fragrances that are primarily supposed to smell like vanilla could almost form a separate category. There are some total failures, but also very many treasures. Generally, it is worth to be open-minded, because you are often positively surprised. So it was for me with Vanilla Darling.
In itself, I am not necessarily a fan of the brand. I'm thinking primarily of this mini-series, which was often used as a Secret Santa gift in junior high when you didn't really know the person you were giving the gift to. Yes, they get the nostalgia point, but I wouldn't wear any of them outside right now. That's why I was skeptical about Vanilla Darling until I saw the good review here and just trusted it - what's to lose?
At the DM I then realized that it was probably most like me: The whole fragrance series had already put on dust, because it was so rarely grabbed. Well, I was already so curious that I then also did not care. The first test was promising, so it came along. What led me to this comment, however, was the development....
At first, you notice minimally sweet, milky, slightly floral vanilla. Vanilla Darling starts out very understated, but gets warmer and cozier as it goes on. Eventually you feel like you're surrounded by vanilla milk and candy. Personally, I also detect a very slight hint of caramel, but vanilla undoubtedly dominates. In my opinion, this composition puts you in a good mood because you just think about nice nibbles and forget about the rest of the world for a moment. In addition, the shelf life is pretty good for the price!
For Vanilla Darling, Ulric de Varens really deserves praise in my opinion. A fragrance with this development and durability is not necessarily standard in the price range. Unfortunately, this treasure is just so unimpressive that he has received far too little attention and is now discarded in the DM. Too bad...but a backup doesn't hurt. We can only hope that Ulric de Varens will soon release new fragrances. If the quality remains the same, I'm looking forward to seeing what then stands instead of Vanilla Darling on the shelf!
