not some fresh aftershave (thank god)

Mr. Vetiver is a fresh, aromatic, green perfume that could appeal to people who usually don't like this type of scents (like myself): there's in fact some slight warmth from the spices and depth from the woodiness that balance it out and make it more appealing.

While I wasn't initially crazy about the name since I don't strictly divide fragrances by gender, once I tried it I found myself agreeing with this choice; there is such a cold (and cool), vintage, masculine energy coming from it, I can almost see the character materializing in front of me.

Vetiver knocked out of style

I've had to realize in many ways that I seem to have exceptional taste. Things that I think are great are often taken off the market...
The fact is that this apparently atypical vetiver fragrance seems to be the only one I like. What's more, it's a men's fragrance.
But I'm not surprised, as it combines some things that I really appreciate.
I love this mix of light citrus and lots of (kitchen) spice, which has a certain depth. I only get an idea of the rose geranium when I inhale deeply close to my wrist. It probably acts more in the background to harmonize everything a little and forms the bridge between the top note and the base note.
Unfortunately, the spiciness flattens out considerably as it progresses, the fragrance becomes a little woody and the longevity could be better. However, the price and performance are in an acceptable ratio and spraying it again does not make you poor.

Nice mediocrity

In itself, Mr Vetiver is a pleasant men's fragrance that you can't go far wrong with (unless you don't like vetiver at all).

My boyfriend has worn the perfume a few times and it has always been very pleasant on him.

I smell 85% vetiver here, plus a little cardamom and something citrusy.

Unfortunately, I still have to admit that there are simply other perfumes that I like better than Mr. Vetiver. Especially since this fragrance doesn't have particularly good longevity and sillage (as it doesn't last more than 4-5 hours on the skin)

So it's a nice fragrance in itself, but you don't necessarily need to know Mr. Vetiver now.

I'm slowly testing my way through the world travel sample set from Une Nuit Nomade. So today Bali, by bike. Mr. Vetiver.

As an outspoken vetiver fan, I am initially surprised by the predominance of cardamom, which dominates the spicy opening. But I have to admit that I can get a lot out of it - the interplay works well. A soft citrus note also plays a part in the opening, but only in a restrained way. Cardamom and vetiver quickly take over and lead into the spicy center of the fragrance. After some time, various other notes can be identified, but they tend to appear in nuances, once something almost fruity, then - but really only minimally - I think I can make out a hint of something sour - tarragon? It remains predominantly green and spicy, then later slightly woody, but the cardamom remains perceptible for a long time, albeit discreetly. Almost everything here is subtle. This is not to say that it is pleasing or arbitrary. On the contrary, the interplay is interesting and definitely has edges. But the fragrance is never loud or obtrusive. It is much more restrained than some of the other Nuit Nomade fragrances. This is not really a flaw. I often prefer the quiet, more intimate fragrances to overly loud representatives. However, what is perhaps most objectionable is the fact that the fragrance's longevity is unfortunately not that great either: the scent accompanies you rather quietly for a while, but then unfortunately evaporates all too soon. Mr.Vetiver simply cycles quietly away.

The take-away lesson for me: vetiver and cardamom go well together. As always, the bottle is classic and beautiful. The fragrance is much nicer than the grey color of the liquid would suggest. All in all: a test recommendation for vetiver and cardamom lovers and those who want to become one.
