Tropical chill-out

A beautiful blend of tropical yellow florals with an intense labdanum note and a spicy note akin to cloves. Frangipani and ylang ylang are both equally noticeable. This ylang ylang really shows its fruity, banana-ish side, while the frangipani is more powdery and sophisticated in here.

Everything about this feels very warm, but bright and smooth enough for summer wear. Not for activities like sports or running errands in the heat, but for mild summer evenings, lounging and slow walks. It just feels very relaxed. Due to the very resinous and ambery base it could also easily be worn in autumn. They work beautifully in contrast with the beachy flowers and make this stand out from other tropical florals. Lovely scent.

Incense ceremony for the gods

The scales fell from my eyes today. For a long time I had no access to this fragrance, but as is sometimes the case, recognition suddenly came over me today.
As I understand it, the brand wants to capture the moods of certain destinations.
"Murmures des Dieux" conjures up an image in my mind of a temple in front of which a young woman kneels before a statue of the gods, puts a string of flowers around her and lights a stick of incense.
The fragrance smells quite original, like a stick of incense with a slight hint of frangipane.
A not-so-fancy comparison: the smell that hits you when you enter a world store that also sells incense sticks. Or a gemstone store. Or from the esoteric corner of a bookshop.
However, it is not extremely smoky, but soft with a very slight sweetness and like an incense stick BEFORE it is lit.
For me, it goes well with yoga, on a tropical vacation or as part of a ritual.
The gods whisper when the scent of frangipani, benzoin and labdanum rises to the heavens.

You can have that tropical feeling without coconut!

My fragrance journey continues with Une Nuit. After a few trips to Oman, we are back in Bali today. Today's fragrance is poetically translated as "The Whisper of the Gods" and, according to the enclosed card, pays homage to the frangipani flower, which is often used in Hinduism as a sacrifice and to decorate the numerous temples and is therefore also omnipresent on Bali, the "island of a thousand temples".

So much for the background to the fragrance. But what do I smell? The opening is creamy and floral for me and the frangipani is actually very present from the start. It's very sweet, but pleasant if not overdosed.
As it progresses, it becomes even more floral when ylang-ylang and hedione with its jasmine note are added, whereby the first two flowers are clearly more present than the jasmine note and together create and reveal a pleasant tropical fragrance: Tropical feeling is also possible without coconut!

In contrast to the previous fragrance, the drydown is downright subtle. I hardly reach for the base notes here, rather the actual frangipani ylang-ylang fragrance simply becomes quieter and quieter until it disappears completely, perhaps a touch creamier than before.

In relation to the inspiration and the theme, I would have liked to perceive the elemi resin and the resins from the base more, then the "temple impression" would have been stronger, so I find the fragrance a nice sweet tropical scent for everyday use.
