Smoky raspberries on papyrus
Between the four Legends fragrances, Silver Saffron was the one I was the most wary about. Seems I was right to be cautious as it's definitely not my favorite thing.
The first few seconds of this fragrance are beautiful: I smell a sweet, ripe raspberry. One of the few realistic (not synthetic) raspberry note I've had the chance to smell in fragrances. It unfortunately doesn't take long before a strong smokiness starts mingling in and that's where the fragrance completely lost me. I'm not a fan of fruits mixed with smoke in fragrances, it's like mixing fruits with savory foods (a complete turn off for me). I start detecting a tinge of saffron, but it's crushed by a bigger note: a green, sharp and almost astringent note of papyrus. I've already had the opportunity to smell papyrus in other fragrances and I think it might be a note I don't care for. The smokiness remains ever so strong, but also starts getting backed by a warm, powdery accord with papyrus note remaining at the forefront.
It has enormous projection (maybe has the best sillage out of all of the Legends) and I was totally turned off each time I smelled a whiff of it during the day. The smokiness mixed with the raspberry, the off-putting papyrus note... This might be a me problem more than a fragrance one, but I will not be adding this one to my collection.
