Mind-blowing lipstick iris bomb
This to me, smells like a more grown-up version of Dior Homme intense, with much much much much better performance. I’ll be lucky if I get 30 minutes of performance from DHI, from uomo intense, I get a solid 7-9 hours with strong projection.

Opens up very bright and citrusy with a strong waxy iris right up at the front. Dries down to a beautiful iris, tonka and vanilla combo. Such an incredible fragrance.

I would recommend this any day over DHI. If you want to buy one of the dior homme fragrances, go with the parfum, that one has nuclear performance.

Best in Class Iris Designer
Easily one of the best designer releases out there. Powdery iris center-stage and balanced gracefully. Slight lipstick. The mandarin up top is a unique touch, decently bright and very smooth. It fades cleanly into the base after an hour or so. Don't think they could have picked a better citrus. Oddly, I don't particularly pinpoint a heart in this composition. Either that or its dismissably subtle. The (slightly animalic) leather gives it some edge without turning harsh, and the saccharine vanilla keeps it rounded, and powdery sweet. Think Dior Homme Intense as the genesis, with the deviations leading to a more wearable and less heavy, "cosmetic products" result.

Performance is solid for this style. I get about 7 hours on skin with 2-3 hours of noticeable projection. Bottle looks just as good as it smells - classy and masculine.

Overall, it's refined, confident, and has that magnetic pull without trying too hard. And dont get me started on the value. Fantastic.

A final note, caution if you will: If you look the part whilst using this - you WILL be irresistible. They simply cannot help it.

Use responsibly. I mean that.

The Italian James Dean of Our Time
“Do you know that this is a men's fragrance? I’d be happy to show you the women's perfumes. Have you heard about the new V…”
(“What I really know right now is that my bias against employees of a certain perfume chain is unfortunately justified,” she would have liked to respond or give a sermon about how unprofessional and counterproductive it can be to forbid non-men from buying products that are marketed towards men. Instead, however, she lets out a polite) “Yes, thank you. I would like to test what has changed in the new version here aside from the bottle.”

The bottle is still nice to look at, still reminiscent of the studs on “Rockstud” bags and shoes, exclusive, stylish - and now with a cap and a collar of studs that reminds one of BDSM games, which it didn’t need. For a moment, she wonders if Valentino Garavani “the one and only” secretly laughed about it when he ever got to see the design.

Tfft tfft. One spray on the wrist, one on paper. Just in case this “Uomo” is no longer himself, she doesn’t want to regret her boldness.
More than Tfft tfft is not needed for the little time travel.
It’s October 2020 and Tshajbukoshka receives a call. Would she like to come? Signor Il Herzensbrecher’s best friend has exhibited all her works at home and made a small vernissage out of it, for an exclusive circle, a maximum of five people are allowed to admire them today. Tshajbukoshka calculates: Malena and her boyfriend as well as her best friend, then there’s Signor - and she would be the fifth person. She wouldn’t miss this opportunity! Never before had she packed the most expensive bottle of Primitivo from the shelf into her bag so quickly, packed by “the other one,” Mario, Valentino, and touched up her lipstick. She hears him before she sees him and is as excited as a 14-year-old in 2010 before a Justin Bieber concert. That voice, deep, mature, louder than a vacuum cleaner with a V8 engine and bursting with self-confidence. In her mind’s eye, she sees him gesticulating, throwing things around, and occasionally adjusting his hair with a (not well enough disguised for the attentive eyes of Tshajbukoshka) head movement to the back. His presence is almost palpable, one could almost think the bass of his voice makes the ground vibrate, especially when he rolls the ‘R’ extensively. The charm of the Italian remake of James Dean is not easily escaped, not even when one has to listen intently as he, of course, in Italian, muses about the herbs on his balcony.
“Signorina, I smoked today,” he admits quite sheepishly while looking at her with furrowed brows, making a pout and holding out his cheek to her. She doesn’t smell anything from it. He smells just like he looks: delectable, mysterious, special, forbiddenly good. Oh mio Dio.
“A little bit drunk, though, so I’ll drive today.” - “Really? Sei meravigliosa! I thought you would be angry.” (- How could I be angry? I probably wouldn’t even be angry if I woke up in the morning and you told me you just stole half my lung and liver.) She laughs. The evening is excellent, the exhibited artworks impressive - and yet, Tshajbukoshka will only remember him in a few months after this day, how he looked, what he said and did - the Italian treat who lets himself be carried into his own car while completely drunk, only to then protest loudly because he still has to hold the driver’s door open for his Signorina and apologize to his car for not driving himself. Buckled up in the back seat, he performs his interpretations of Andrea Bocelli, Il Volo, and Random with a fervor that could suggest ten opera singers.
At some point, it becomes quiet. The singing has stopped. Tshajbukoshka opens her window and adjusts the rearview mirror to see him peacefully sleeping with her stuffed animal in his arms, his curls on his forehead. (“Süüüß!”)
Once home, she manages to wake him just enough for him to move from her support to the bed. In full gear. The smell of his leather jacket lingers there until the next morning, even though Tshajbukoshka struggles to get him out of it (and his shoes). So that’s why people in horror movies never choose kidnapping victims who are a head taller and more than thirty kilos heavier than themselves.
An exhausted Tshajbukoshka throws herself onto the bed after a wonderful evening.
“How do you actually know it’s love?”
- “When it smells like home at his temple, then you don’t know it, you feel it.”
This Valentino, he’s just it.
A sentence that fits Tshajbukoshka, Signor Il Herzensbrecher, and Valentino alike: “I’m a year older a year later, but aside from the outside, I haven’t changed, at least that’s how I feel - and those who know me know and gladly confirm it.”

Comment from my friend: “You always smell so delicious, I would become a cannibal for you.”
Another friend: “Are you sure you’re not a lesbian? Somehow it emphasizes your masculine side.”
Her boyfriend: “Can I have some too? I like it, I hope it suits me.”

This fragrance can compete with the greats... it even turned my worldview upside down!
8.8 on Parfumo? Everyone on YouTube praises it to the heavens and it’s so affordable? Can it be any good? Doesn’t it smell cheap? Ohhh, it’s unbelievably cheap in the souk… well then, blind buy and let’s go :D

Opening the package, looking at the bottle and behold, the first surprise. The bottle is very elegant and feels wonderful in hand. I usually don’t care about bottles, but this one is really absolutely top-notch.

So, the first spray on my arm and booooooom, an extremely strong scent hits my nose. A scent that a) I have never smelled before and b) I don’t like. It smells somewhat like peppery cinnamon, which describes it quite well. However, due to the fragrance notes, I know it’s nutmeg and I can definitely confirm that. The peppery cinnamon is nutmeg and becomes much more pleasant after 10 minutes, and then I slowly start to like it.

I have never experienced a fragrance where you can smell the notes so distinctly as in this one. The mandarin in the top note??? mhh well, not really. Over time, though, sage, plenty of vanilla, and a very pleasant leather come through. All of this is laid on an iris base. The dry down then turns into a spicy vanilla, very, very delicious. The scent has this powdery aspect, has a note of makeup. The fragrance is very, very sweet and I honestly find it unisex.

So, the fragrance is quite sweet, heavy, powdery, vanillic, cinnamon-like, and deep, perfect for the cold season. It has a strong scent progression, changes continuously, and feels very high-resolution. You can always detect different nuances, which form a harmonious whole. Additionally, it has truly excellent performance, projecting very well and lasting really 7-11 hours, truly fantastic. Plus, it’s very affordable. Exactly because of these qualities, the fragrance feels very high-end and… I just have to say it: The fragrance could easily cost three times as much and I would be fine with that. In a blind test, it could have been a Xerjoff, not the best, but I would have believed it 100%.

This fragrance has completely turned my fragrance worldview upside down. The price doesn’t always indicate quality; even affordable fragrances can be wonderful, and this one is probably the absolute pinnacle of this phenomenon! This fragrance is definitely worth trying!

The Roundest Iris Fragrance
The reformulated Valentino Uomo Intense is for me the roundest iris fragrance that is both elegant and versatile.

Over time, I have tried many popular iris fragrances, here is a small (purely subjective) comparison:
- Dior Homme Intense (2011): Very elegant, beautiful scent, but the well-known "lipstick" note makes it a bit less wearable for me. Still great for festive occasions.
- L'Homme: Soapy iris & poor performance on me. Unfortunately, it never really convinced me.
- L'Homme Intense: For me, the better Prada L'Homme. Very nice scent. Darker than L'Homme, but the soapy iris is the same. Wearable as a daily fragrance in the colder season. Somehow, though, it has less of a feel-good factor than VUI.
- Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum: Also a nice scent, but rather unremarkable. What kept me from buying it is this "buttery" note, which I don't like here. By the way, I also smell the same note in Gentleman Givenchy Réserve Privée.
- Valentino Uomo Intense (2016): I only remember that it was too leathery for me when I tested it a few years ago. Maybe my taste has just changed.

I have often heard that Dior Homme Intense (2011), Valentino Uomo Intense & Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum smell almost the same. I cannot confirm that for the life of me.

So back to the "new" Valentino Uomo Intense and its scent development:

The fragrance starts fresh and, compared to all the mentioned scents, fruitier. The fruitiness comes from a gentle mandarin that is neither sour nor particularly sweet and fits perfectly into the overall picture. It is directly accompanied by a slightly powdery, fresh elegant iris. I like the iris note better than in all the other fragrances. It simply smells extremely high-quality and does not smell like a makeup case, soap, butter, etc., like some others.
The leather note is slightly present, but harmonizes perfectly with the other notes and never comes across as dominant or too strict.
In the drydown, a super beautiful, sweet-creamy vanilla comes in, which is still perceivable on clothing for days.
Overall, just a very rounded, elegant fragrance that makes you feel good and enhances the outfit.

Wearability:

The fragrance is sweet, but not as sweet as many other winter fragrances. It is very elegant but adapts to the occasion. It really shines with evening wear, but it is also good for office & leisure - especially in the colder half of the year.

Performance: Good to very good, but not beast mode.
Bottle: Quite chic, but I preferred the old one without the spikes on the neck. However, the spray head is perfect.

This is heavily compared to DHI. I can tell you right now that this is an amazing fragrance, but not better than DHI.

Fittingly, this is rated better than DHI. Minor tweaks to the DNA, make it wearable, more youthful as it limits the lipstick curse.

Warm, dark, powdery, sweet, leathery, spicy. Iris perfectly blended with tonka bean. In the base, a soft leather and some vanilla. Elegant.

Quite similar to Dior Homme Intense, but less floral, more leathery, a bit sweeter, and simpler overall.
