DBIR Ivory
So this is…underwhelming. Mild orange blossom with a touch of the DBIR DNA and a whole heap of baby powder. Fades to a musky skin scent within the first hour. It’s not as sweet as I expected, and there’s only the barest hint of marshmallow. It doesn’t really project either. If you’re looking for a quiet, inoffensive, softly feminine scent this is worth a look, but my search for the perfect white marshmallow gourmand continues.

Underwhelming
I must be missing something. This fragrance is missing both structure and quality. It's like one of those body mists you'd find in the checkout queue of Marshall's, only placed in a beautiful Valentino bottle. Born In Roma Ivory is a cloudy, vague, semisweet scent that they are calling marshmallow. Emphasis on the word "scent" as I cannot justify calling this a perfume.

I am not surprised at all to see that there is no perfumer listed, as it doesn't feel like like it was crafted by one. If there were ever a Valentino fragrance created for babies and young children like Bvlgari and Tous has done in the past, this would be it.

Clearly a trendy cash grab. Prestige brands really need to escape these fads and get back to being creative. For those of us who were wearing Valentino in 2012 pre-L'Oréal Luxe, can relate when I say it is sad that this is what it has come to. Valentino used to be a very classy house, but it is clear the brand has lost its identity.

There was a time where limited edition flankers were exciting and something to look forward to.

a little bit of yes, and a whole lot of no
so, i actually purchased this because of the CONS that everyone was sharing; not sweet, not "beast mode," not long-lasting, "nothing special," not gourmand, "does NOT smell anything like LDBS" and my favorite: "skin scent." these cons and warnings were all PROS to me as i am a skin-scent girlie, i grow annoyed by loud and long-lasting fragrances, i don't enjoy gourmands but do love a good vanilla/marshmallow, detest LDBS...etc. also saw it compared to Prada Candy Kiss which is my around the house/bedtime scent for life, and i wasn't convinced they'd be similar at all, but the comparison made this worth trying.

and my thoughts: cotton candy hair spray. the musk was entirely too prominent -- i hate MOST musk, and that's my own problem, not the problem of the fragrance, lol. i could have maybe held onto it had the musk not been so overwhelming (preferably non-existent), but even then, there was such a generic, 'high school locker room circa 2004' vibe to the whole thing, which is also my problem with the other DBIRs. the same day it arrived to me, it was on it's way back. ever so slightly disappointing as i was hoping it would be a nice occasion fragrance, but overall, it just wasn't for me, and i'm not surprised. i did really enjoy the hairspray opening of it!

Genuinely not so bad
I’v never worn this (and as a man never will) so take these words with a grain of salt. 5 minutes ago I smelled this on a woman standing maybe 3 feet away from me at a coffee counter. She smelled softly sweet and inviting which I liked. Familiar almost. Like the type of person who gives the best hugs during the crappy days. She smelled like a creamier Love Don’t Be Shy. I can’t speak for longevity or scent trail, but quality was good and not synthetic. I actually prefer LDBS over this because it isn’t as milky, but I feel like this will become one of those perfumes that over time becomes more popular despite an initially underwhelming reception in the fragrance community as many Valentino fragrances on the men’s side do.

Powdery, sweet marshmallows but men like it.
Ivory opens sweet and marshmallowy. Not hard overly sweet store-bought marshmallow. More like a fresh homemade marshmallow with a little more vanilla than the recipe called for, with a little bit of musk to keep it fluffy. The orange blossom and mandarin fade into the background of vaguely powdery sweetness.

There's nothing WRONG with it, I just don't see myself as the kind of person who smells soft, fluffy and sweet. I prefer gourmands with more of a bite. My husband loves this for some reason and his opinion is that I should be less hard on a fragrance that makes me smell this good. Men really seem to like this scent.

The bourbon vanilla, orange blossom, and musk give this marshmallow a more "grown-up" spin. Surprisingly pleasant, even if a bit synthetic.

A very soft and delicate fragrance. More floral than sweet, almost powdery. Orange blossom dominates, with a slight hint of marshmallow.

Love this one musky and elegant

Objectively nice, but kind of boring. Projection/sillage dies fast. Dries down into a generic orange blossom and musk. Marshmallow is a side kick.

A warmer, muskier, more synthetic version of the OG DBIR. Would have liked it to be lighter, disappointed.
