Eros Najim Versace 2024

Eros Najim opens with a scent of citrus and cardamom pleasantly blended without the strong synthetic citrus opening of the blue bottle Eros fumes. It quickly dries down to the scent which remains for the life of the fragrance - very linear with no evolution. In this case, I'd describe it as mildly spicy, slightly sweet (not ooey gooey) and woody, blended into a smooth and creamy scent. Fairly flat fragrance without depth, but it works. A flanker totally separate from blue bottle Eros.

Longevity was quite good, with a very noticeable skin scent remaining the next morning (over 12 hours). Projection was strong, but not room filling.

Eros Najim is a workable fragrance. By that, I mean, it's one that could work for me and I could wear even now but would have been better appreciated at the start of my fragrance journey. The quality is somewhat low.

I'm wearing this for the first time and these are my impressions: it does have some Eros on it, it feels familiar in the line. There is some soapiness and it has some leathery/smokiness on the drydown. Basically this is a collection of fragrance tropes that feel like just another fragrance you wouldn't write home about. A collection of generic tropes making a very generic frag.

Does it smell good? Yes. Will you like it? Yes. Will it perform, yes? Is it memorable? No! I like it but one expects more from a middle east exclusive, this isn't worth the effort or the $$$ IMHO.

Test it if you find it and if you like it, go for it. If it's unavailable, you're good, you're not missing out on anything special.

Are we sure this isn’t just Eros Elixir? Maybe it’s more accurate to call it Eros: Fanta edition, lol.

In a way, this is a bit of a confusing release. It’s a little safe and a little daring, without going too far in either direction. Perhaps safe enough for Eros haters to enjoy, but by that same token, not daring enough for people looking for a little more out of an “exclusive” release.

Upon initial spray, it reminds me of Ultrared by Paco Rabanne—but Ultrared with a foundation, an anchor point to keep it from flying off the skin. That being said, it still has enough pop to feel effervescent and lively. That liveliness comes from its main note and overall vibe. While the main Eros series (EDT, EDP, and Parfum) has a distinct candied sour lemon accord that permeates throughout the spray, Najim instead features a candied sour orange note. In comparison, though, this aspect is nowhere near as strong as the original releases. It’s more tangy than sour, tart and fruity rather than herbaceous. There’s also a tiny bit of smokiness, but more like a toasted marshmallow. A sweet, soft kind of smoke. Something to keep the scent grounded, whilst also aiding the formulation.

I’ve been playing a lot of Hitman lately, and I like to call Najim the “Silent Assassin.” To the wearer, it might not smell that strong. But to my mum, she thought I was trying to choke her out! And that was with seven sprays, five hours after application. Needless to say, be careful with how much you spray, because you might just kill someone by accident!

You know what Eros Najim really smells like? Skittles—specifically orange Skittles. A tart, candied orange sweetness that isn’t screechy, but still playful. The kid in me really enjoys that comparison, and it helps explain why this scent is so easy to like. It also clings to clothes very well, so you’ll keep catching whiffs hours later.

There’s very little in the way of aromatics compared to regular Eros. No mint, thyme, or lavender.
It’s fairly linear, for better or worse, depending on who you ask.

If you enjoy Eros, you might enjoy this.
If you hate Eros, you might also enjoy this, as it isn’t overly loud and doesn’t have any weird or off-putting notes.

The original Eros sometimes gets compared to bug spray or toilet cleaning products.
I don’t think Najim has that issue, in my opinion.

Would I buy it again? Maybe when it hits discounters and isn’t as expensive as it currently is.
A 100ml bottle is $228 AUD, about $100 more than I’m willing to pay.
That said, if you try it and love it, it might be worth it. Give it a go.

Semi-gourmand night version of Eros.

Exactly as expected, this gave Eros the “hmm, we need a sweet ‘date-night’ flanker to piggyback from the original’s success,” and so here we are with the usual treatment: sweeten it up, add some sticky vanilla, and make the bottle orange.

A similar fate is seen in Calvin Klein’s Eternity Parfum and Le Male Elixir—it’s the same familiar sweet designer direction. Boring, but there was a gap in the market.

I get the sherbet-like, playful mint and sweet amber from the original, but this one departs by adding a sweet semi-edible caramel (which is admittedly nice and not too obnoxious) plus a smooth resinous facet. Nothing natural, but not screechy either.

Has a weird cakey orange vibe going on, maybe an illusion of the saffron and vanilla note coming together. Again, nothing natural here. It’s almost plasticky up close, which is a shame.

I wouldn’t call this oriental, unless it’s a “baby’s first” take on it. It’s definitely aimed at the Tiktok crowd needing an easy, mass-appealing night out scent. Seems loud.

No oud. Some warm spiciness from the cardamom

Use cases:
Unisex.

Loud, fun, youthful, trendy. Nothing interesting for someone into fragrances, but works as a mass-appealing entry into the sweet ‘going out’ category.

Best for the cooler weather, but since it isn’t as uber-dense and obnoxious as some others in this category, it can work in slightly warmer weather too—spring, summer, maybe even indoors in the office.

Meh. Would have impressed me in the first month of this hobby.

Eros Najim is a masterclass in how to mature a legendary profile. It strips away the loud, frantic energy of the original and replaces it with a smoldering, contemplative warmth. It sits comfortably in the woody-amber category, leaning heavily into a sophisticated East-meets-West aesthetic. An underrated gem in the designer world, and a highly recommended addition for any collector who appreciates a well-executed touch of smoke and spice.
