A classic with a bad fame
"Basic Bro fragrance", "Frat boy ahh" and idk what else. Say what you will but this started the game for many of us in the community, and its a victim of its own fame as well as Sauvage Eau de Toilette or Aventus .

Honestly I don't consider this a gem or a masterpiece, but it's a decent scent for people it's targeted at, teens. Coming from a designer, it's understandable that it's not gonna be something remarkable BUT it sure has its distinctions.
Green apple, mint, vanilla/tonka & ambroxan. It's a sweet, green shampoo in a fragrance! It does unfortunately remind me of Zara fragrances and cheap alternatives, but when found for a decent price its a good pick up.

The good old days
Imagine you go out clubbing with the cool guys from work, for a change. Halfway the night you realize that you are the oldest guy on the dance floor. Not just a bit older than average, at least by a decade. That’s when that universal sense of awkwardness kicks in. Reality is a b*tch and it stings. I associate Eros with that feeling.

Actually, I like Eros for what it is. Minty apple that turns into tonka-ambrox-woods. It contains pretty much every ingredient that I dislike normally, but somehow it works here. Still, for me it is something of a while ago, those good old days. I have grown too old for this and so has Eros.

The Most Annoying Guy You Know
Here's the thing about this cologne...it is not BAD smelling or stinky in anyway. Really, it's quite a good freshie in that it's very long lasting and has beast-mode level projection which we all know is a rare find in a fresh scent. That being said, I think all the good graces that this fragrance has garnered are absolutely destroyed by its fan base. The most annoying man that I have ever met (I went to college with him) wore this cologne every day and TO THIS DAY, if I smell it on someone in the wild I will have a visceral reaction. I can only describe it as fragrance PTSD, and it's very real! Everyone who also went to school with this man would agree, and I have spoken to quite a few of them and they have confirmed this. Smelling this cologne puts me into a state of panic, looking over my shoulder, ears perked up and listening for the most grating voice I can recall in recent memory, hair on my neck standing straight up. The fear and dread that this fragrance strikes into my heart is formidable and I am holding a grudge against the man that poisoned me against an otherwise fine scent. So, in short, this would be a lovely fragrance if it weren't for the type of men that it seems to attract and thus all the women (and a few men) that it is repelling in perpetuity.

I'm going to lose this war, but here's my shot, anyway
This is about Versace Eros, but bear with me, because I need to talk about Drakkar Noir first. For the past couple decades, Drakkar Noir has been seen as a scent from an increasingly distant past, a loud, youthful mess of callow, overbearing, blithe self-assurance, the kind you find in the halls of American high schools and in clubs around the world, young men bathing in the perfume that clings to your memory long after their names have faded.

If it isn't already, Versace Eros will one day be thought of in the same way. You can already see embarrassed older men walking away from it, as if to bury the mistakes of their youth with their bottle of Eros. Frag heads - many of them the same men - are joining them, dissing Eros because it is/was popular. Hey, remember when ear tech was only for d-bags? Well now everyone is walking around with earbuds all day. Taste-makers are often just gatekeeping b-holes. They think Layton is too mainstream, even though no one outside the frag community even knows what Layton is.

Like Drakkar Noir, Eros got so popular for a reason. It frequently beats all comers in blind tests of scents women prefer to smell on a man. It's fresh and sweet, a combination most people enjoy. It's fine to smell like other people. Your fragrance doesn't make you an individual. You do. You'll never find that niche fragrance no one has heard of, that will make you popular yet unique, because everyone is already wearing it. It's fool's gold. A snipe hunt. Quit trying to outpace the tragically hip; their entire raison d'être is to be soooo over whatever you're doing.

Get Eros. It smells great, performs well, projects a little, and for a designer fragrance, is pretty affordable. What more could you ask for?

Surprisingly decent
Eros opens with a fresh and minty accord (apple, mint, citrus) surrounded by the usual metallic-ozonic notes, however supported by a pleasant and slightly less predictable (for this type of scent) base of warm, rich, aromatic spicy-woody notes (tonka and cedar above all), sweet and quite “round”, perhaps due to tobacco and/or patchouli dusted with vanilla - the “uncommon” side is that these notes smell actually good and solid, more than the average in mainstream scents. I smell a couple of “niche” nuances here, for example the ambroxan note which provides a “modern” feel of dusty grayness (quite reinforced by aldehydes) – not far from several niche products of the recent years. Also, another “niche” factor to me is some of the contrasts this scent is built on – the tart-mint head opening and the almost gourmandish base, which is quite sweet, warm and resinous, and smoky too. Overall it smells safe and crowdpleasing, but if pay attention and smell it more carefully, it’s not as common as it may seem. And it’s definitely decent. Plus, Eros has also an unexpectedly nice evolution too: instead or remaining identical and just getting drier and lighter, it gets softer, warmer, more resinous, actually more pleasant as hours pass, once the sharp metallic-zesty opening fades away. I’m wearing it since a couple of hours, and now is remarkably better than before. Nothing great and nothing new, but not bad and not (too much) boring.

A superb first clubbing/ going-out scent. An immortal fragrance DNA, which, yet simple, exudes precisely what it sets out to.

The opening is good with mint and apple. The drydown is overly sweet and cloying, with vanilla mixed with tonka and Ambroxan. Too much.

That mint/apple opening is very potent, dry down is very dry woody/ambox. Beast performance which actually gets annoying it lasts so long.

A lot of people seem to be calling this perfume overrated, but I disagree. A really sweet and casual perfume for younger people.

Smells amazing, but very strong and youthful. Date night I suppose for those who can wear it well. Gave my bottle to my son.

A "masterpiece" over-hyped in the community. Absolutely disgusting. I don't know how can people wear this one.

This smells like a night on the beach of a Grecian island. Fresh but cool, dark, and sexy; more unisex than I expected. And lasts for ages!
