Opium haters may be surprised !

I love the original Opium.... But many do not...I say to all Opium haters - Try this , is is nothing like original Opium at all. .....Now i love them both , but they are two very different perfumes

OPIUM VAPEURS is such a classy , wearable summer/spring scent - Gorgeous ! Ive had so many compliments when wearing this. True its an oriental , but one that you can comfortably wear in hot weather . This is a light and breezy scent that also lasts quite well ( for a scent of this type) . The orange blossom/mandarin/jasmine combo is just delicious.

A keeper this one!

Disappointing Flanker

Opium and her subsequent flankers appear to have gone through some major changes over the years. The original formula of Opium was a spicy, rich oriental. However the modern interpretation as we know it today, is much softer and more of a crowd pleaser. As a result, flankers such as, Belle d'Opium and Opium Vapeurs de Parfum, are not really spicy orientals at all. They have little to no relation to the spicy Opium from the by-gone era.

The only spices to be found in this composition, come in the form of pink pepper, (which is so zesty and sour that it could be mistaken for pineapple), and powdered nutmeg. Opium Vapeurs de Parfum is a surprisingly subdued floral, wearing almost like a skin-scent.

First of all, I love the bottle. It was such a shame that I didn't enjoy the scent enough to buy it. I would have loved to have displayed that powder pink bottle on my dresser.

I'm quite a fan of orange blossom in perfume, however the orange blossom note in Opium Vapeurs de Parfum struck me as a little synthetic. The floral notes in general were mildly soapy, with the nutmeg creating a smooth, musky blend on the skin.

I sprayed Opium Vapeurs de Parfum on my left wrist and walked around the shopping centre sniffing it occasionally. I found it pleasant but nothing outstanding. It's not worth the YSL price tag, at least not in my opinion.

Opium Vapeurs de Parfum is such a blasé fragrance. The projection is like a whisper on the skin, with the lasting strength being quite poor also. Not impressed. Opium is starting to lose its charm.

Orange Blossom without Opium

Orange blossom is enveloped by a hint of mandarin and vanilla. This makes it mild-sweet and slightly muted, then over time it becomes a bit more oriental, increasingly taking on a spicy-woody character, but it continues to pulse very orange-blossomy on the skin. A beautiful round and full base. The scent pleasantly surprised me; however, it has nothing to do with the original Opium or the other flankers in my opinion, it is a completely independent fragrance and in that sense, well done. It wears wonderfully, with orange blossoms being both fresh and elegantly warm.

Coincidences

I am interested in coincidences - simultaneous events in life.

So the sun hid itself for days - just as our awning was installed.
However, when I carry an umbrella with me, the sky laughs.
If I go for a walk without this prop in a thin jacket, it is guaranteed to rain cats and dogs.
When I seek peace and solitude in the bathtub - the phone rings incessantly.
If I wait for a call, the thing stays silent - even if I at least get the soap wet.

But scents also work the other way around.
If the sky is gray and dreary, a bright fragrance lures a few, albeit hesitant, sunbeams out.
Amazing.

Maybe the scent just sharpens my eye for everything beautiful and bright?

That’s how it was for me today with Opium Vapeurs de Parfum.

The weather was not exactly inviting, and I was wandering around tired - but a spray of Vapeurs gave me energy.

The fresh mandarin, spiced with pepper, is extremely lively and invigorating at the same time.

I slipped out of my lethargy and joyfully got to work in the garden.
And lo and behold, the sun generously sent me a few rays, mixed with bright jasmine and radiant orange blossom.
A pleasant bitterness emanates from the fragrance, but it does not drift into the bitter.
The wind is still cool - like the scent.
I can also imagine a beach walk that is always refreshing, even when the sun is shining.

The fragrance also promises sunshine - without oppressive heat.
Spicy patchouli and cozy vanilla lead me back to my garden.

Vapeurs encompasses closeness and distance - entirely according to one’s mood.

At the moment, its bitter freshness makes me think of sailing trips on the seven seas - or on the calm Sorpe Lake - also entirely at one’s leisure.

Delicate Orange Powder

Opium Vapeurs de Parfum is another representative of the Opium line from 2012.
I purchased it at the beginning of 2014. It was a set with a Yves Saint Laurent fabric toiletry bag, a 30 ml bottle, and a small travel spray.
Apart from the name, it has nothing in common with the original Opium fragrance, but I didn't have such expectations. I bought the scent because I also liked Belle d'Opium, which I had acquired shortly before. Therefore, I gave this flanker a chance as well.

Opium Vapeurs de Parfum is a gentle, feminine fragrance. It starts with juicy mandarin and a hint of pink pepper. Jasmine is present but not too overpowering. Orange blossom unfolds immediately and gives the scent a certain powderiness, not too strong.
Over time, I have noticed that this powderiness holds up better in winter at cooler temperatures. In summer, on the other hand, it hardly feels powdery to me, and the orange blossom becomes more citrusy.
The base is said to contain patchouli and vanilla, but this is rather subtle.
Overall, I perceive the scent as orange-powdery. It is not too intrusive and is well-suited for everyday wear. I would categorize its longevity as average.
It leans a bit towards Coco Mademoiselle, but is gentler.
The bottle is chic, and the rose-peachy hue fits well with the bottle.
For me, Opium Vapeurs de Parfum is a candidate for repurchase and one of the better ones among the many Opium flankers.
