VERY sweet! Very strong vanilla with a hint of cinnamon and coffee. I think it is too sweet for me.

A real feminine fragrance. A lot of vanilla, a white flowery base which gives me a headache.

A smooth orange blossom vanilla with just a hint of the coffee character. The vanilla in here smells like a vanilla extract which is divine.

Mostly vanilla to me. Lots of creamy sweet vanilla, some pear and a dash of coffee. The OG is more complex with stronger coffee IMO.

I do really like this. I might have to buy a full bottle of this sometime (probably going to wait for sales)

Even if you don't like the OG BO, give Le Parfum a chance
I did not like the original BO at all, found it screechy and basic and got rid of it fast. Le Parfum is the only BO flanker so far that I can see myself wearing. The notes are much smoother and gourmand without being overwhelmingly sweet. Tested at Ulta and was pleasantly surprised. On the blotter paper, it had outstanding longevity and made my purse smell soooo good!

So, I got tempted and went ahead and got myself a used bottle to see if I could tolerate it on my skin. It's very nice, I actually crave it in the morning with my coffee, it’s such a delicious way to start a day! I think it's too heavy for office wear, especially in the summer, but I work from home and sit under the air conditioner, so it works for me!

The True Sequel
In this take of Black Opium, there is a heavier delivery of vanilla and coffee with a touch of spice. So, there is actually less focus on the white floral aspect. This is the true sequel to "Black Opium", as it relates directly note-wise. Think of all the other flankers as fun franchises. Black Opium Le Parfum is deeper, yet softer. This often happens with "Parfum" or pure perfume concentrations. Parfum or Extraits don't always equal more projection, but will linger on the skin longer in most cases. I did find this to be a tad bit fleeting for a Parfum, but wonderful otherwise. I will be revisiting this concentration again to confirm. Despite this factor, it is still my favorite interpretation of Black Opium. I would put this in the class of Good Girl Supreme, which has a prominent coffee note as well. Le Parfum is darker and much more gourmand, but leans on the patchouli to give it depth and some sophistication. Now that Black Opium and Libre have reached their max concentrations, I am curious to know what YSL/L'Oréal Luxe does next.

Suprised
As much as I do not like the black opium series as much this one has a rather delicious evolution I must say.
Tested by chance today (being a fan of olivier cresp I always test) I headed to this bottle that I did not know, exit the glitter, hello black bottle.
First a direct sniff near the atomizer, hold it looks not bad, hop the mouillette, pschitt pschitt ... Hmm. Let's not see Mazal, one. Vanilla rather dark, hold, orange blossom .. Rather classic oh no wait it's spicy... cinnamon.
Ok so in mind we are good I confirm. Then I say to myself go we test on skin (1 pschitt this time not crazy we never know) the start is identical then it arises the vanilla remains present but is adorned with coffee a little dry (patchouli?) It's sweet but not sickening,
To my astonishment I did not smell this jasmine that usually bothers me so much.
In short, a beautiful perfect that married my skin with a black softness.
It s a win for me

Unisex vanilla/tonka bomb without being *too much*
I think my nose is very sensitive to tonka in fragrances, and there is plenty in this Black Opium flanker. It is a little tobacco-y, a little smoky, and a little sweet. This isn't bake shop vanilla, but rather the raw stuff that still smells like it comes from nature. The spicy, citric jasmine fades pretty quickly and leaves me with the base, which is tonka, tonka, tonka, plus a little chocolatey patchouli. I do not dislike it, but for me it is more of a cold-weather scent. If you like tonka and want one that doesn't smell cheap yet won't break the bank, this is the way to go. The bottle is lovely, and the scent lasts for hours. Here in the states, big retailers put some of the Black Opium scents on sale from time to time, so it is easy to get a brand new bottle for a good deal. Overall, it is not something I would buy a full bottle of, but it does smell nice. Quite a needed change of pace compared to all of the obnoxious jasmine-vanillas we have seen recently. This is vanilla for an actual grown up who doesn't want to pay Tom Ford prices for a sexy vanilla.

Always Ultra Hyper
Someone is said to have said of Vivaldi: "He didn't compose 600 songs, but one song 600 times."

In my opinion, this is far too harsh on Vivaldi. He simply has his own distinctive style, but so do other composers. Mozart is also relatively easy to recognize, but nobody would dare to talk about Mozart like that.

So while Vivaldi is being wronged, I have to say: YSL manages to put out the same fragrance over and over again. OK, this one is a little stronger, you have to be a little more careful with the dosage, otherwise it starts to get on your nerves. The Intense, on the other hand, has a bit of a latkritz and absinthe touch, but is otherwise quite similar. It's always the same fragrance DNA with the BOs that I know personally. If you know one, you know them all. Certainly, if you like the DNA, which is the case for me, then you like the fragrance. But you don't need all of them. One, or two from the series would be enough for me.

In my opinion, the most difficult and creative thing is the naming. Extrême, Intense, EdP, le Parfum... Ultra would still be free. Hyper would be something completely new.
