Opulent Dream - or not?
I have long been taken with the beautiful, simple design of the Terry de Gunzburg flanker. The contents of such a beautiful bottle must surely reflect this. During a discount promotion, I then seized a few bottles, and I was most looking forward to Rêve Opulent. Just the fragrance notes sounded very promising. The more eager I was when the package finally arrived.
The scent starts off very nicely; it is soft, slightly fruity, slightly floral, powdery. I like it a lot, and this lightly sweet, fruity-floral, but at the same time somehow dry and powdery, reminds me a bit of Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.
The gardenia in the heart note quickly reveals itself, and I find it, in combination with the jasmine, to be really successful. The fragrance also becomes very creamy, soft, and close to the skin.
In the base, to be honest, I can hardly perceive the scent anymore. The combination of vanilla and musk is very light and not very expressive.
Although I generally really like the scent, and the blend of fruity, floral, and powdery is indeed very successful, I must say that I am very disappointed with the longevity and sillage. I had hoped for significantly more (for the price). The fragrance is consistently rather close to the skin, with a barely noticeable sillage. And the longevity is no longer than 2 hours. Very unfortunate, as much more could have been made of it. Opulent means something different to me. What a pity.
