A Declaration of Love
Melancholically, I just touched you for the last time. I immediately feel the longing for you. I don’t want you to leave. How often have you taken me in your warm arms, offering me comfort in the cold season. How many times have we strolled together through the Christmas market, drinking children's punch and mulled wine. You have always given me security, pampering me with chocolates and wintry roses. You always perfectly matched my taste. The chocolates were never too sweet and the roses never too kitschy. How often have you conjured up the most delicious desserts made of almonds and cinnamon, and you were also incredibly sexy. I indulge in memories… You were just here, but now you are gone. I search for you everywhere, but I can’t find you anywhere. Luckily, spring will soon break in… I can only hope that you will return to me by next winter.

Sugar-Free Rose Pastry Under the Christmas Tree
In my husband's family, we have many creative people. Sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafting, but also the magic in the kitchen is mastered by quite a few in our relatives. As talented as my mother-in-law is in this area, it is equally important to her that everything we eat is healthy. Unfortunately, as I mentioned in another comment, this also applies to desserts. Since I tend to be the "all-or-nothing" type when it comes to snacking, I am not always fond of desserts with little sugar and instead creative seasonings and particularly healthy ingredients. I also enjoy being creative, but sometimes I just like it really sweet, especially with pastries and cakes. There must be chocolate on top, there should be plenty of sugar, and I also love buttercream and many other, less healthy ingredients that exist solely to delight the palate. I'd rather enjoy just a small piece, but it should taste truly divine.

I expected the same from Delectation Splendide, as it is often described this way, and on the other hand, this deep purple liquid tempted me, perfectly matching my feathered outfit. So why not the scent as well? However, I received Christmas-spiced rose cookies with a load of fruit tea, many cloves, and unfortunately very little sugar. Yes, my mother-in-law loves to bake with roses, which I don't necessarily find delicious and is reflected here as well. Added to this is a very potent ginger note and, although not listed, a clove. The scent of freshly opened pipe tobacco is also very recognizable here, but everything is dominated by a somewhat soapy rose, and the promised sweetness only shows itself to me in a very limited way.

I had hoped for anise, benzoin, almond, and vanilla. However, these only provide a subtle background noise for my nose in Delectation Splendide. The pralines used here are completely sugar-free. Perhaps the baker opted for agave syrup instead of sugar, as is often the case with healthy baked goods? There is also a rather earthy patchouli note.

This is certainly not unpleasant, but unfortunately, it is just not my thing at all. For my understanding, this is not really a gourmand, and even my beloved musk cannot add a bit more sweetness to the scent. The fragrance is rather somewhat aloof with delicacies hinted at from afar. Sweetness without sugar and calories. And to remain completely healthy, the tobacco is also not lit here. A tiny bit more smoky resins would have pleased me here as well.

I still recommend this rather cool scent for the contemplative time of the year. Some aromas, especially cinnamon, clove (I still smell clove), and also ginger plus the pipe definitely remind me a bit of Christmas. But a preference for rose pastries should definitely be present; otherwise, it will be difficult here.

It's a pity, this violet jewel would have really appealed to me visually. But inner values also matter.

A big thank you to Bernebee for the testing opportunity.

Who wants to nibble on chocolates?
If you answered yes to this question but want to stay away from those pesky calories, Delectation Splendide is the best alternative. A delicious chocolate pleasure without guilt. Before I stumbled upon this fragrance by chance, I always took a wide detour around scents with rose components. I am torn when it comes to rose fragrances. Most of the time, they are far too strong and sweet for me. However, with Delectation, the individual dessert components of tonka, almond, and praline are only lightly enveloped by a hint of rose. They grow in a distant garden, and a gentle breeze carries this scent to my nose.

The ginger, pepper, anise, and tobacco create a beautiful counterpoint to the roses and the sweetness. The spiciness gives this very rich and substantial fragrance an additional edge, making it interesting and extraordinary for me. For me, Delectation Splendide stands out from the crowd of gourmand fragrances.

In the base note, our pralines are dusted with cinnamon, and the vanilla turns the sweetness up a notch. However, it also thankfully keeps the patchouli from becoming too forward. Who wants a shovel of earth on their pralines?

I would have wished for a bit more longevity with this fragrance. You can perceive it well for about 4 hours, and then the sillage is also noticeable in the immediate vicinity of other people. But then our selection of pralines in the bottle gradually weakens. After about 6 hours, only a trace remains.

Conclusion: Delectation Splendide is one of my absolute favorite fragrances. When I wear it, I constantly wonder what I am smelling, as there is a constant change of the fragrance components. I find that interesting, and this scent never bores me. Except in summer, I always enjoy wearing this perfume, and you can't go wrong with it.

Enchanted Winter Roses
Winter is here. It’s cold, it sometimes snows, frost lies on the roofs, and it gets dark early. A time that can sometimes be a bit depressing. So something uplifting is needed. This fragrance is perfect for that. It brings a real smile to my face and puts me in a reflective mood. It’s great when a scent can do that!

For me, Délectation Splendide is the perfect winter rose with all sorts of finest spices. As soon as it’s sprayed, dark rose petals shine, blooming in a stone bowl with an oil mixture of vanilla tobacco and the typical winter spices cinnamon and anise. Very strong and incredibly elegantly crafted. The patchouli makes the scent a bit darker and earthier, giving it a very mature and interesting character.

I am really very enthusiastic about this wonderful combination, especially since I’m not really a fan of roses, but this one is simply enchanting. However, you should enjoy it being quite spicy, as it is indeed very intense and powerful. This winter rose has truly enchanted me and, in my opinion, can be worn wonderfully between October and February, on dark, cold winter days, when this rose really blossoms!

So, anyone who likes roses and spices, with a light, pleasant sweetness, should definitely test this fragrance; it also reminded me a bit of Dior's Ambre Nuit.

A dream of a sundowner scent -used sparingly- it blends with the skin. Despite the gourmand and spice notes, it's not heavy or sweet. Love it!
