amazing realistic tea

i've smelled several of the popular tea scents in recent years, and while i've enjoyed many of them, none come as close to a realistic tea as this. this is no doubt in part because i'm chinese american myself, and oolong-jasmine is the scent of my childhood, but this is a remarkably well done tea scent - aromatic, green, floral - with just a hint of sweetness and musk to blend into skin. there's a hint of fuzzy-smokiness at the skin-level, an aura of osmanthus and peachy-tangy sweetness, as well as a colder note, which I assume is porcelain. overall an impecable scent, and almost surely the one i will pick up out of this collection, even with the caveat that i haven't smelled half of my samples yet. utter perfection to me.

My perfect tea scent

I’m able to smell all the notes listed in this. It’s light and refreshing but somehow also has a slight powdery musky vibe. It’s sweet as well. Smells a slightly soapy sweet osmanthus pomelo tea. There’s also a cold feeling and faint glass like scent which I’m assuming is the porcelain. This is so nice. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a tea scent like this. I love it so so much. When this was first released, I had so many assumptions on what this would smell like based on tea scents I’ve smelled in the past and boy was I wrong. This is honestly my perfect tea scent. Not too sweet, not too bitter, not too citrusy. Perfect.

The perfect oolong tea

This is everything I have been looking for in a tea fragrance. It’s transportive, enveloping, and deeply personal. Upon first spray, you are hit with a beautiful bright citrus, oolong tea, and osmanthus. Like sticking your face into the steam of a freshly brewed cup right out of the pot. The florals here are pronounced but not overpowering and delicately soft. Like you’re rubbing the petals between your fingers. The pomelo is bright and pulpy but not sharp in the way most citrus notes are. Porcelain comes through about 5 minutes into the wear and it’s COLD and a bit earthy. It doesn’t smell synthetic or out of place here at all. Only adds to the experience. The musk is a beautiful fluffy white musk that wraps everything together in a neat little bow. I’m so glad to finally have a tea note that rides all the way through the wear. The projection is intimate to moderate depending on how many sprays you use, but the longevity is phenomenal for a tea fragrance! I get about 6 hours on skin and much longer on clothes. This is a phenomenal fragrance and an absolutely exciting peek into the next chapter of d’Annam’s works. I cannot wait for the rest of this collection. This is my perfect tea.

Milky Oolong vibes

Anyone who knows Milky Oolong will notice similarities with this fragrance. At first, I thought of jasmine tea when I smelled it for the first time, but it has more sweetness that fits better with Milky Oolong.

The pomelo is only perceptible on my skin at the beginning. So, if you're expecting a citrusy scent, that's not the case here, even though the pomelo is indeed the namesake. Oolong gradually comes to the forefront as the fragrance develops. Osmanthus is only slightly present in the background at first, but it increasingly blends with the tea note in the drydown. Now it reminds me much more of jasmine tea, as the sweetness also fades more and more in the drydown, leaving a mix of osmanthus and tea.

A beautiful fragrance, a bit more exotic among tea scents, but therefore not for everyone.
